  1. @Ilivetoski...I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to ski in the Dallas area. It may not be as convenient as you'd like, but you'll find a way, I'm sure.

Also, a lot of folks on this site may have "expendable" income now because they prioritized appropriately when they were younger. Skiing is important, but it might not be the most important thing when you're looking to start your career right out of college...

  2. Not all Crossfit gyms are created equal. There are a lot of good ones and some not so good ones. Just like all fitness trainers or other sports coaches/instructors are not created equal, the same applies to Crossfit. If you're interested in Crossfit, do your own research, become knowledgable about fitness, define your personal goals, then try a few different programs to see if it works for you. Even within the same Crossfit gym, some class sessions can be far better/worse than others depending on who the coach is.

Any Crossfit gym worth considering will probably allow you to drop in for a week or so to see if it works for you. I'd recommend that approach if you're interested. After my recent move to the East Coast, I tried 3 different gyms before joining an awesome one.

@cragginshred...I don't see what you're talking about regarding women who Crossfit out East, or anywhere for that matter, but if I understand your assertion correctly, you feel that women should strive to become attractive to "most men" as a fitness goal?

  3. Regarding salt water, you have to do what you have to do to ski. Those who regularly operate in salt water seem pretty used to the cleanup work. Even so, I think it is hard on things like fin boxes and binding parts, but @"Mateo Vargas" could say better.

That said, I think a previous thread about Firebird claimed it to be saltier than average and extremely hard on equipment.

  4. Exactly what @RazorRoss3 said....more than I want someone who can keep dead center I want a driver to hold the boat in place, even if its slightly off center. It's usually very noticeable when someone is moving the boat into you off the second wake to recover from not picking you up solid on the last ball.
  5. @zman...growing up, we had an '87 Comp in that teal color. It was basically the same as pictures with a yellow pinstrip logo in the back. Those Supras looked awesome at speed, sitting still, at the dock, and even going down the road on a trailer.
  6. Our first boat was an '87 Supra Comp. We bought it in the mid '90s from a guy who was partners in the boat with his father. He wanted a ski boat and his father wanted a fishing boat. They "compromised" and bought the Supra!

I guess as part of the deal, the the old man had a fish finder installed above the spotter's seat and air horns on the hood. They were both removed by the time we purchased it, but it must have looked ridiculous.

    Sweet boat...

  7. In my opinion/experience the vests that break up the water at the impact point are the ones that would serve someone best during a high impact crash. Sometimes padding only serves to transfer the impact rather than dissipate the force. I would focus on vests that meet this criteria. I broke a couple ribs years ago, which got me looking into other vest options. I've had Oneill's, Eagles, Camaros, and most recently I've purchased the Stokes EVO.

Though I haven't skied yet with my Stokes vest, I have high expectations. To me, the design, materials, and manufacturing appear to exceed most other high end options. I'm looking forward to many sets with it!

As a side note, @Thomasasher was awesome to work with regarding sizing and other concerns I had!

  8. If I were in the market for a boat right now, I'd take a hard look at this one. I skied behind it a couple of times in the summer of '15. Wake and pull were awesome, and I personally really like the colors. I would bet most Ballers would be real happy with this one...
