  1. Another warm day in central Florida 1/7/19 on Lake Minnehaha for 10 passes. Trying to keep the streak going and stay in ski shape.
  2. Am I the first??? Able to get in 10 pass this morning (Jan. 1, 2019). Sweet conditions here in central Florida.
  3. Final set of 2018. December 31. 6 x 32 off, 4 x 35 off.... done. Other than some wind, not too bad on Lake Minnehaha, Clermont, FL. Air temp 68 and water temp about 65. The new ZO rev S is working well on my old 196. I ski C2+ on my boat, but skied C2 on the 2019 Nautique 6.2 liter. When in better ski shape, think the C2+ on the new boat will be sweet.
  4. Skied Lake Minnehaha Clermont, FL December 29 and 30 in the A.M. Water temp. 66 and air temp 70. 10 passes and the fog got so heavy had to bag it. Best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
  5. Amazing skiing...and a fellow hoosier. Did anyone else notice very little rev (rpm) change throughout the entire pass? He has to be the most efficient skier ever!
  6. Managed to get in a set at Swiss behind the new Nautique Dec. 28th. Water temp around 65 and air temp close to 80.
  7. Had not skied since 12/4, but even though really windy, ran 7 passes on 12/15 here in Clermont, FL. Would rather ski in crummy conditions than go running!
  8. With respect to boat houses, when we rebuilt ours (hurricane Jean took out the old single slip one), permits at the time allowed 10 square feet (above high water mark) per 1 foot of shore line. If you have 150 feet of frontage, you are allowed 1500 square feet over water TOTAL. We built a double slip boat house and cost was a one time permit fee. You can build larger structures with greater square footage, but you then pay an annual fee for that structure. Lastly, the structure must be built 25 feet from the adjacent property line. The HOA simply ok'd the plans. This was in Lake County outside of Orlando.
  9. Actually December roll call now! Lake Minnehaha, Clermont, FL water temp in the mid 60's and air temp 70. 12 passes, then the wake board boat came out! Still lucky to get in a set in December. Best wishes to all "Ballers" for a Merry Christmas and a happy healthy and prosperous New Year.
  10. 2004 Limited 196 with 200 hours on new engine and transmission with Rev S ZO. and lifetime warranty on the hull. To me, still a great slalom tug. See no reason to buy a new boat. I agree with Thager....love the 196!
  11. Was test driving an old '89 Nautique ( once belonged to Andy and Deena Mapple) that we restored for my brother. Back in those days, the swim platforms had open spaces. Had a scuba tank on while fixing the course and as I climbed on, got my finger stuck in one of the spaces and broke it. It did not heal properly and had to have it re-broken and pinned. Pretty much a bone head move.
  12. 11/26...too dang windy at my site so headed over to Swiss. Pretty darn windy there (rather unusual) but got in 8 passes....sure beats going for a run.
  13. ScottScott, you are correct. I just refer to the courses based on which is skiable based on wind direction. Your two location descriptions are more accurate. Sorry for my error.
  14. Skied 8 passes on the east course, then 6 passes on the south course 11/25..Lake Minnehaha, Clermont, FL. temp about 68 degrees and air temp 70. Really going to cool down for a few days with another cold front...then back into the 70's.
  15. Found Connelly Claw 3.0 gloves on sale at Overtons and Gander Mountain. They are Kevlar and as I am really tough on gloves, found them to be the most durable and comfortable gloves I have used. I ended up ordering 3 more pair. I think they are that good.
  16. Just checked and jumped in....70 degrees surface temp on Lake Minnehaha, Clermont, FL.
  17. Crazy warm here in central Florida. 11/14 with water temp 74 and air temp 83. Managed to get in 12 passes and that was before noon. Reality will set in as a cold front is approaching with expected lows in the upper 40's for a few days.
  18. Wow, a 993 and what looks to be a 997 GT3. You guys have some cool cars!! And I thought skiing and boats were expensive!! Speed cost money...how fast do you want to spend?
  19. Quick set this morning 11/12 at 8:00 Lake Minnehaha. Air temp 68 and water temp about 73. Did not really need a top, but wore it anyway. Very fortunate to live in Central Florida and have a wife of 37 years who can REALLY drive a boat!
  20. Kurt, your Lotus is an awesome car! You would have a blast at Sebring. 17 turns and 3.7 miles around. If you are interested, check out Chin Track days or Suncoast Porsche Club of America. Between the two groups, there is an event every month all winter. If you have any questions or need more info, let me know. At what track was your photo taken?
  21. Running, weight lifting, golf, shooting and HPDE driving and instructing at Sebring.
  22. Have converted my 5.7 196 to ZO Rev S. I run C2+ and really like the pull. Have been skiing at Swiss Ski School also behind the 2017 and 2018 6.2 liter boats on C2 (Rev R). Yesterday I skied behind a 2018 5.3 and started out on C2. The pull was MUCH softer than both my 196 and the 6.2 liter boats. The difference was palpable. Switched to C2+ (again Rev R) and it was still softer than both my 196 single single puck Rev S on C2+ or the 6.2 liter boats on C2. With the softer pull, buoy count could increase once you got used to it. Can see the concern training behind a 5.3 and going to a tournament with a 6.2. It will feel firmer. Based on the above comparison, I believe a 196 ZO boat with single puck Rev S, is closer in pull to a Nautique 200 6.2 liter boat Rev R than a Nautique 5.3 boat Rev R. Have yet to ski behind a new 2019 Nautique with Rev S, so looking forward to that comparison when the opportunity presents itself. No doubt, the conversion to single puck Rev S on a 196 is worth the investment.
  23. Have skied at Eden. Well appointed site and facility. If you are in Naples, that is the most convenient site. I drove over from Marco Island and it was an easy drive. Enjoy your stay in Naples.
  24. Are you referring to the + setting in new Rev S or the previous version?
  25. Not only is my wife a great driver, she has really stepped up the "frat boy humor" lately when I get to serious. Dead calm conditions and I wipe out at the 2 ball. She slowly idles back, brings me the rope and then says, "too much tail wind for ya"? I damn near drowned laughing!!
