I dont't want to hijack this thread but what do y'all recommend to use for the inserts to add the end screws to the OB4 system?

The V-Type is really awesome! It really should get no bad press. The "hype" momentum seemed to never happen but it's the best Syndicate yet and can go toe to toe with any ski out there.

@ALPJr I used the V-Max bindings at first but trying the ski along with new bindings just didn't work out right. The V-Max bindings are super light and comfortable. They really accentuate the "superlight" construction of the V-Type. The mounting philosophy is interesting too. I don't really like that they don't have a removable liner....I think removable is safer. I'd stick with the binding you're used too until you're used to the ski. After that the V-Max boots are worth trying.

My 67" V-Type sticker shows flex #s of 70/96/113/123. I'm getting no sensation of slow or finicky at all. I'm 190 lbs and have a tendency to load the line more than I need or should out of the turn so I'm really putting the flex to the test. Right now, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm curious if my sticker numbers are accurate....123#....Wow! I wonder if they meant to write 132? If not, no wonder the V-Type needs the chatter dampener on the front of the ski.

 

 

@TWB If I were 175lbs I'd ride a 66 but you might be ok. The ski has a more rail type feeling to the turn that gives the sensation of a larger (late feeling) radius. That's an illusion. It has a ridiculously smooth and fast turn radius that gets the ski under you beautifully. Try the 67. I think you will be happy with it but expect something different and fresh on this ski and keep an open mind.

@horton I've never heard anybody call out "semi anti counter rotation". Is that West Coast Slalom 2.0? LOL. I am curious what semi anti counter rotation means. I think you mean it's not that important that you counter on the V-Type which I would completely agree with. I found that a sufficient (not exaggerated) and patient counter (not rolling shoulders into the turn) makes the turns feel like a ride in an F-16.

@jimski I'm convinced you have a lemon but good luck with it! In a subliminal whisper...V-Type, V-Type, V-Type....

I don't think @Horton got paid off to say he loves this ski. It's advancing modern day philosophy in an uncharted fashion in my opinion. Get ready for some incredibly fun G Force rail turns and wake crossings that feel like a pebble in the road at 100 mph. I think sufficient and patient counter rotation is the only mandatory technique and after that just enjoy the ride. This thing skis just differently enough to bring some freshness and new fun to the sport! Nice work Syndicate team!

 

 

@jimski Did you happen to have anybody determine if the blue ski you couldn't get to work was messed up somehow? Has anybody else skied it with the same experience?

@ilivetoski. A 36mph 39 off buddy off mine started on a 67 and told me he couldn't really get it to work so he downsized to a 66 and fireworks went off. I would say he's on the light side for a 67 so it was a good call too go shorter.

@jimski I suspect you got a lemon! No way should it be that finicky especially after being good to go with the green one. Shoulda just stayed green and not drank the blue kool aid!

Thanks @MISkier I've seen this before and it's mostly consistent with conventional wisdom I think. My intent in this thread is to see if conventional wisdom has any consistency among ballers.

@chef23 You're right....if these were all one skier's issues maybe wakeboarding would be a better choice of water sport...haha

Have you ever had somebody just shout out a quick fix adjustment during or after a set based on their observations? Pretend you're that person observing. Assume the skier has fundamentally sound technique. What quick fix adjustment would you suggest to somebody for each of the following?

 

1. Sluggish on side turn

2. Sluggish off side turn

3. Does not decelerate in pre-turn

4. Decelerates too quickly in pre-turn

5. Hitches/Bites coming out of on side turn

6. Hitches/Bites coming out of off side turn

7. The tip rises at finish of turn

8. Chronically narrow at the buoy.

 

Does anybody know where any slalom courses might be tucked away at Powell?

I mounted up a pair of V-Max bindings to the V-Type and they are AWESOME. I haven't skied them yet but just standing in them is fantastic! I've tried a bunch of bindings and haven't found any I like better than my Powershells but these V-Max might be the ones. Nice work HO!

Maybe this thread will evolve into a sub forum to talk V-Type.

 

Just got a 67" V-Type. Went with the green one. It's a really good looking ski. Trying the V-Max boots while I'm at it so it's a full change up for me. I know....not wise to go new ski AND binding but it's happening.

 

I'm after any "magic" fin and binding placement numbers ballers have discovered. 67", LLF, 190 lbs.

 

 

I drove a 6.2L 2015 a couple weeks ago and it's definitely stronger than the '14. I don't know if they made changes to the 6.2L but it's certainly seems to have more hole shot. It doesn't seem to have that ultra buttery wake anymore though. Give up one to get the other I guess. I also noticed how crazy loud it is. You can't have a conversation without yelling "what?" at least 3 times in 16.95 seconds. Still a beautiful boat but is $80k realistic for a boat that seems to under perform in too many places?

Does anybody have experience with a 2014 5.7 MC running at altitude? Will a 5.7 reasonably reach speed at 5000 feet on a 2200 foot lake?

It's not South Florida so bring a wet suit just in case.
