  1. I'm trying to help out a family member that is a new boat owner in Nashville TN.

Do you guys always perform a full winterization to your boats in Tennessee?? I live in Indiana and a full winterization is a must.

He is thinking about keeping the boat under a cover outdoors.

    Advice is greatly appreciated

  2. Family just got a vacation home in Park City/Deer Valley.

Wondering if there are any places to ski in the summer. I'm sure most sites are private. Just looking to see if there are some clubs that welcome guests for a fee, etc.

    Thanks

  3. @XR6Hurricane , Over the past year I've struggled with the same issue.

Going along with what others have said... "look across, at the boat, something just not the wake"

What has helped me more specifically is looking directly down the rope line. This has helped me stay on edge and be more open to the boat. Whenever I remember to do this, my wake crosses are much smoother.

    Best of luck!

  4. @ShaneH and @klindy Thank you for the information. Being completely new to the tournament scene, I don't yet understand how things are working in the background.

Either way in my above scenario.... something needs to change so that tournaments like these don't fizzle out.

  5. My answer would have been "YES" ... but.......... The wife and I sent in our registration for a tournament this weekend (Hoosier Buoy Tour). USA Waterski decides to cancel the tournament at the last minute. Why? Because of a lack of qualified officials.

By now if you are reading this you're probably thinking... "well yeah dummy... you've gotta have officials for a tournament to take place." Fine... but at least let me provide you with a bit of context..........

This tournament is so laid back that it is based upon a handicap scoring system. If you can't run the orange buoys..... that's cool! ..you can still enter the tournament. If you can't run the green buoys.... hey that's cool too!! ..you could have entered this tournament if you were a mini-course skier! (boat guides and 1, 3, 5's) If your personal best is 1 @ 15 off... you could take home a trophy. I think everyone on this website understands how handicap scoring works.

This goes back to @Horton 's interview with fifteenoff.com. USA Waterski needs to do a better job of promoting the sport and not just regulating it. How difficult would it have been to empower some local individuals in order to make this event happen? Here you have two waterskiers (very new to the sport) that just got denied their first tournament. This was a chance for novice skiers to be properly introduced into the competitive side of the sport.

Obviously I'm still pissed about this and it probably deserves another thread title...... BUT C'MON USAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. @ShaneH I love the concept of that. Stood in front of a mirror last night in ski stance. After straightening my back leg (i.e., almost locking the rear knee) I attempted to "sit back"... it just can't be done.

I'm going to focus on that a lot more when I "free ski" this weekend. I also like trying to imagine myself being "taller" as Horton says. That seems to click with me better than "getting my weight up over my front foot"

  7. I still feel strongly about the "Volleyball" out of bounds rule. If ANY part of that ski touches the right hand gate buoy.... GOOD GATE! Just like in volleyball rules. The ball can be 99% out of bounds, however, as long as the ball is touching ANY part of that line... it's considered in-bounds.

I think unless the judges see a clear gap between the ski and the right hand gate buoy.. it's a good gate. (i.e. , a gap created by the ski passing on the southern side of the right hand gate ball)

  8. I feel your pain @Brady . This was a couple of night ago AFTER reading all that excellent advice on your thread.

2 coached sets with Seth Stisher next weekend.

Slowing the video down really lets me see how TERRIBLE my form is.

Should I do some free skiing? I would like to improve on my problem as much as possible before Seth coaches me. I know that's the first thing he's going to see on my opening pass.

  9. You're going to get 100 different recommendations on this one... However... everyone at our ski club with Nautiques use Lucas Oil Spray Wax after every ski session. It's preserved my boat's wax that was applied back in mid March.

It's best to wipe it down while the boat still has some water on it. Use microfiber cloths to prevent tiny scratches.

    Good luck!

  10. Every camera I tried on the device didn't work out very well. Kodak Playsport, Cannon Powershot, GoPro Hero3, and Android RAZR cell phone.

Lots of video vibration. Also played a bunch of "catch the camera" like Deep 11 said.

Wish I could be of more help. I don't think there are a bunch of people out there yet with these EZ Cam's. They just launched in the US a few months back.

I recommend finding your favorite camera to use from the boat then taking that EZ Cam to the shop for some modifications.
