I figure the zbox will be my end state if the switch to stargazer doesn't meet my needs. At least now I should be able to get segment times to see where I'm at. I'm not sure there wasn't something wrong with my old module.

So I have the 2003 lxi w/ the indmar 335 hp motor. I just installed my stargazer system last night and the manual says to run it at 3000 rpm and see if it fluctuates. If it fluctuates by 30 to 40 rpms or more then switch to the inverted tach setting. Does the group recommend following the manual or do you have the confidence that with my model and motor combo I should just start with the inverted tach setting? I'm not sure if there would be adverse effects to having the inverted tach setting if not needed. Boat hits the water this weekend. Thanks.

I'm 10 min south of you and my boat will hit the water next weekend. I have an 03 LXI come give it a drive/ride. Judge it for yourself. Let me know.

I don't remember my current system having an inverted tach option. I believe it is a 6.5n version. Or are you suggesting for the stargazer system use the inverted tach setting?

Thanks. Sounds like I should start with a stargazer upgrade and see if think I need to do the zbox later. We don't tournament ski. We just want a better pull. Any recommendations on where to get the best price on a stargazer with display?

I have a 2003 malibu LXI that I have decided to run another year. 335hp indmar. My biggest gripe with the boat is the perfect pass. It is the stock 6.5 system single line large display. There are a number of posts out there on zbox vs stargazer. Most sound like stargazer is best value. I would appreciate opinions from those that have done similar upgrades. Things I don't like about my current setup is: time to settle in (short setup) & sensitivity to throttle end position. Other boats on lake have a softer pull with good times whereas mine is a harsher pull.

 

If someone has a stargazer or zbox setup for a servo system that they want to part with, send me a pm.

I just hit Eden ski lake this morning. Felt great to get out. Great setup. I Highly recommend giving it a try if your in the area. Very patient.

I talked to the guy. He said they are barely open. No changing rooms etc. He said he will pull skiers. Wife and I are planning on stopping in. I'll let you know how it goes. 1 week until we get down there. Can't wait!!

Almost have to. This sport is getting so costly. Between the time to get anyone to look at a boat and cost to have the work done just doesn't make sense.

Does anyone know of a ski school or anybody looking for gas money in the for Myers area? My wife and I are going to be in town 3/12-3/19 and want to get out. Thanks in advance for any advice.

 

I went and checked it out. It really wasn't that bad. I bid up to $20k and decided it wasn't for me. You have to pay sales tax plus broker fee as well. Not to mention it was full of snow. Rudder and underside was good. Somebody will probably come out ok on it.

I looked into renting a truck and towing. Nobody allows it but all full size vehicles have receivers?? They really get you on a one way rental though. Would have been way cheaper to drive down. I did end up paying 1.25 per mile. Mine was a pontoon out of Florida. For a ski boat up u really ought to road trip it and sneak in a set. Either way congrats!

Dave seems like a great guy. I'm going to try to make it work. $50 a set. It is about an hour from Scottsdale unfortunately. Water temps in the high 50's. That pretty chilly without hauling a wetsuit down. Doable though. Much warmer than mn!!

I'm going to be in Scottsdale 2/15 - 2/20 for work. Does anyone know of a ski site and if it's too cold? I'd love to get a few sets in and am good for gas money+?

I also agree with his comments about the txi. I think a better color combo would have shown nicer. Disappointed there wasn't a sn 200 on the floor.
