Any male skier who has ever been ranked in the top ten of the IWSF Elite List or the IWSF Ranking List will be required to ski at 36 mph Are you saying that anyone who has skied at a high level and is now older and wants to be able to continue to support the sport is subject to a penalty/handicap? Why do you feel skiers like myself , Jeff R, Drew. KLP, etc should be pushed aside? Do you think it is best if we abandon the current events and create our own? Then allow no other skiers that have not been in the top 10? This way, skiers like Nate will have somewhere to continue to enjoy their sport after they retire. OR, do we want him to continue to help support and grow the sport? Just thoughts!

It was fun to see skiers have fun with new formats. Takes away from everything being about the score. A really challenging weather day, but everyone stuck around, even after they skied! End of Sept this year should give us some better weather options and some improvements to the event.

Thanks to everyone who supported us this weekend. We have already started our list to make improvements and have a great event in 2015 (maybe earlier in the year!!) Our goal is to create fun into the sport. Thanks.

MappleSkis has tremendous respect for John Horton and what he has done for the sport with BOS. This year MappleSkis for the short term decided not to advertise and purchase banners so we could focus on those $$ to be spent on getting out into the field and exposing the product direct to customers. See road tour schedule. We have no issues with John Horton and BOS team doing any reviews on our skis. It has to be real, and not according to whether the company spends money with the tester. So.....how does the tester make sure this is right?

MappleSkis posted the format for our first "Mapple ProAm Challenge" event. It is different and trying to open things up with ideas I have seen/heard discussed over the years. Figured it maybe a good topic for discussion and ideas based off what we have posted so far. www.mapplesportsevents.com

@mattp Send the pic of Richard. I have seen him in all the Pink outfit, and ski. Send us any of your pics. Many think we are going to be biased to the brand of ski, we will not! We are just trying to have a little off season fun. Mapple is not just about OUR skis, but doing what we can to grow the sport and the fun we all have with it. On our web site are what we feel are basic middle of the road settings for a wide range of skiers. These settings work for a high majority of our customers and no changes need to be made. However, we have to remember that everyone has a different style and feel for their skiing. We totally understand that and we are available to help anyone with settings, via email, phone, video clip or even if possible at our facility in Orlando. In reading the post above, I will in the next day or so, post numerous settings that we have different skiers at (without their names, but will try and explain their style) and why we went this direction. @mattp, the gates from the city end are always a challenge at Moomba. They are situated slightly on a corner of the river and the a place where the currents tend to swirl and thus the gates can have a little movement to them. I believe we see more issues with the gates being pulled at Moomba because the gate buoys in the rules are so much smaller than they used to be, and we have become accustomed to having no fear of getting close or trying to run them over without penalty. This is just magnified at a site like Moomba. Just part of skiing in the Yarra, it forces a different thought pattern. As for my opt up to 38's, this was necessary in the first round for me because of my seed and the way the river and tides were. After that I did it to get right into a rhythm after going back and forth from 34 to 36 mph each day.

Aidan has an attitude that we all can learn from. He had a very unfortunate accident and is dealing with something most of us cannot relate to. Having said this, he NEVER makes any excuse for his arm.....he just figures out how to get whatever is needed done! He has a great style and technique in skiing that we can all learn from, and what he sees in a skier is from a perspective we cannot relate to. That is what makes him a great coach.

Tomorrow is 2nd round. Top 4 scores from either round advance to side by side head to head. There is also an additional event for the combined score of the first two rounds.

It looks like you guys are having fun! Good reading. We are having fun down here. It is quite fun to watch when any one of the skiers heads out for a set, there are lots of eyes on the water, even though very nonchalantly!! There is a very good atmosphere, and lots of laughs...but skiing does get a little serious. (OK a lot serious) Interesting set for me today, thought I would just take a few passes as I am just trying to get time and used to 36 again, when Will and Nate get in the boat!! A little pucker factor then! Wednesday evening we are sending Nate down to the Acapulco Cliff divers. He needs to buy a speedo first though! LOL Now that would be a pic! Figure I could give you guys a little insight, kinda like F1 and how they post practice times.... Todays scores: Will 5@41 Andy 3@41..(the body is suffering, and day off tomorrow!!) CP 2.5@41 Nate 1.5 @41 TGas...was spending today doing some testing with his setup, and not pushing the scores. This is a dream week for several Ski Paradise guests, and we are all very thankful to them. But this is a dream week for me, just to hang out with these guys is very cool. @horton

Ed Check out the success stories button on the mappleskis.com site and we have some skiers posted with testimonies about the levels you are mentioning. Most all skis nowadays do work well through the whole range. Manufacturers have done a good job with recent designs, that what works at the top, works well lower down. Watching the best in the world put a ski through its paces is just fun to watch.
