  1. SO a while back i posted that my ski season was over before it even started, becuase of an emergency knee surgery. I am off crutches for about 3 weeks and starting my physio. I spoke to my doctor at my final check and he said i should be good to go in around 4-6weeks :). As you can imagine I was super happy about this. I think when i do start to ski i will get a good knee brace. Anyone here ski with a knee brace (medial meniscus unloader brace) ?
  2. I guess it helps that yesterday we had snow. I will follow docs orders to make sure I get a proper recovery. As soon as I can walk I will Go hard on physio and weights. If I'm lucky ill get some nice and easy free skis in at the end of the year. Ill just be the designated driver all summer.
  3. Kmenard: sliding into 2nd base playing baseball foot first. Jammed knee as I hit the base. Anyone else here have this type of meniscus injury?
  4. Original injury was 2 years ago playing baseball. At least I did get the stolen base ! I just kind of dealt with it for 2 years and it popped in and out a handful of times. The just last week standing up the meniscus got jammed in my knee joint and prevented any movement (locked knee). Sooo much pain I was sweating and hyperventilating. To be honest I am glad it's fixed. It just sucks to be out especially on the start of a season when I got my first semi professional setup !
  5. I had a buckle handle meniscus tear. As far as I understand it this kind of tear is a parallel and half the meniscus flips up like a bucket handle. So the surgery was a week ago and he put some screws in to hold it down. As far as rehab the surgeon said on crutches for 6 weeks. The first 4 weeks no weight and 20% weight for the following 2 weeks. After that I do physio.
  6. I was all excited to have a great season this year. Was super pumped to try my new setup and now I have a year full of recovery. I tore my meniscus really bad and had to have surgery. I might be able to get in a few runs at the end of the season
  7. So i ended up getting a double vector boot for my 67" theory. Where should i mount the boots on the ski for a neutral location to start off with?
  8. I am really excited about this years skiing. I know that I need to start with technique and getting good basics down first. THe problem is that I dont know where to start and what to work on first. Here in alberta we just got a huge dump of snow on the 2nd day of spring so i have alot more time to figure it out !!! I think i may have an issue with the tow boat as its an underpowered sea ray. I have no problem with deep starts as i have always gotten up with 2 feet in. Thanks for all the help so far I just need to be pointed in the right direction.
  9. andjus, I am 34 years old and last year i skied about 28-30mph. slalom skiing has become my new passion and I would really love to excel at it ! why is it safer to ski with double-boot? and why does it matter the age? richarcdaone: thanks for the site info !!
  10. Hello out there. This is my first time posting here. So for the last two years I have been free skiing at lake Wabamun in alberta with a very generic beginner type ski. At the end of last year was the first time I tried a course at about 28mph and 15off just for fun. Quickly i realized that this was way harder then I thought. So over the winter I had researched which type of ski I should upgrade to and bought a 2013 67" Radar Theory. My goal this year is to complete 6 bouys on a course. A couple of questions I was hoping to get some input on. What kind of binding setup should I buy? front vector boot and RTP? or front and back boot? How do I properly setup the bindings and fin? Any tips for completing a complete set? THanks for the help and info !!!
