  1. Thank you everyone for the input. I am reaching out to Wally for a custom design. We are planing to use large boats and have been told that 14 feet is deep enough. Does that sound correct? We will also amor the shoreline well and realize that shoreline protection is a top priority. Our intention is to create a true multi, water recreation, Wake surf, wake board, slalom, jump, site. We are in design phase.
  2. I am in the process of designing a water ski, wakeboard, wake surf, lake and we are at the stage were we are doing research. We would like to install a submersible slalom course that would be + - 4 feet under the surface when not in use. The course will be installed before the lake is filled so many options are possible. The total depth will be 14 feet. I would love to hear any feed back.

    Thank you

  3. Some years ago there was an apparatus that one would attach a slalom hand to and lean against. It had a leaf spring that would allow the person to flex the machine similar to a real boat pull. It was bolted to the dock. The question, where can I get one of these?

Thanks in advance for any help.

My work travels have recently taken me to Acapulco Mexico. I arrived here from Phoenix through the dreaded Mexico City airport. I say this tongue in cheek, as there are many airports in the US and worldwide that are far more confusing. The transfer was a snap. I have now been here for three weeks. I have had a great, safe, time and especially thanks to Gordon Rathbun. Ski Paradise is in the off season now and Gordon and I have been skiing, golfing and he has treated me to a fantastic Caesar salad at the villa. The Villa, by the way is over the top in regards to a luxury vacation. It is a must see, overlooking the entire Acapulco skyline. Anyone on the fence about a great vacation and skiing experience at Ski Paradise.. Do it.

    Thank you Gordon and Gabriella

  5. In my 99 190 PS I have a custom adapted plastic ballast tank mounted so it is not moveable. There are two water pumps, one to fill and the other to empty the tank with water from a through hull fitting. A rocker switch either fills or empties the tank. It will hold about 150 lbs. water or less and is located under the passenger seat as far Port as possible.
  6. Try a soil sterilant such as Diuron or any AG product used for ditch bank weed control. This will help for a while; because you have a flow through of water you may not be able to use diploid carp as there is a concern of downstream population. They are known to eliminate habitat for other desirable fish species. You did not say where the lake is. Watch the nutrient load in the lake and try to eliminate the source by diverting water inflow, or creating a pre lake settling pond with Cat tails to uptake the nutrients. Good luck.
  7. This is our verbiage. It is a complex issue, our lake does not have a protected shore line so as the wakes get larger the shore becomes eroded.

    Wake & Boat Restrictions

Only approved boats shall be used. Approved boats include AWSA approved three event tournament boats and other boats approved by 3 of the 4 officers of the corporation from time to time. Such list shall be made available to all owners. However, the officers cannot approve for use any rear engine boats that exceed 21'2" in length or that have a beam greater than 91".

Each owner or guest shall operate any watercraft in a responsible manner so as to minimize the size and magnitude of wakes in order to avoid property damage and shoreline erosion.

Only AWSA three event tournament boats are permitted to use wake enhancements. Under no circumstances can wake enhancements of any type exceed 500 pounds any boat that is not an AWSA three event tournament boat or a boat using a wake enhancement shall operate above idle speed only between the slalom course boat guides and the peninsula and the islands. [Lake 1 drivers will safely avoid the jump.].

I'm sure you can do better than this. It was obviously written by a commette.

  8. Yes, advertisers and promoters have always known that tasteful pictures of attractive people re-directs attention. There are no bad ideas in a brain storming session and lord knows we need all of the ideas possible. I recall many years ago “Spray Magazine” used to exploit the fact that water sports are done in the hot summer and with the appropriate clothing for this condition. They suddenly stopped doing that and I remember they caught a lot of reader flack. As mention by jcamp (I am also the father of a daughter and can feel the pain) water skiing is a sport of action speed done by individuals with healthy T levels. I say speaking from the stand point of another sport that is struggling to re-invent itself, let’s do what works….tastefully.

    My two cents.
