  1. That's great thanks @wtrskior. What about the middle screws? Are they supposed to be clapped down or left floating a little?
  2. Ok so I have the Vapor boots on the sequence plate but I have no idea how it fits to the ski. I have 6 screws, 4 doughnut shaped washers and 4 metal spacers. Can someone advise what goes where and which way round etc. I tried to find some articles in the forum but the links don't seem to work anymore. Cheers
  3. Let’s not forget that skiing is one of the few sports that I believe recognises the accomplishments of female athletes just as much as males. So much has been said on this forum about the achievements of Regina and never is this belittled because of her sex. I must have watched the slow-mo video of her more than any other skiing video out there. There are loads of recreational female skiers out there; the challenge is turning them into addicts who then come on this site for a ‘fix’.
  4. Just thinking of another way to skin the cat. Instead relying on a signal which has travelled 20,000km to the receiver, would it be more accurate and more reliable if it only had to travel 20m?
  5. I find it hard to believe that a GPS based system is ever going to have the resolution required to accurately dissect the dynamics of water skiing. To the engineers; is there not a small scale GPS-equivalent system out there where you’d only require two signal senders in the boat and a receiver on the ski to triangulate the receiver position. I don’t know what type of signal you’d use, infrared, ultrasound, radio wave, laser….but surely in this day and age there’s something that can provide an accurate (resolution of a few cm), dynamic, wireless triangulation within say 25m radius?
  6. I’m currently running double Vectors on my 2013 Strada and the laces have started to break. Using some ‘man-maths’ I’ve rationalised that I’m better off upgrading to some 2015 Vapors. I’m a US size 11-11.5 and from another post it seems the size 12 is the way to go. Since my vectors just screwed straight to the ski what is the situation regarding the Vapors and the Sequence Plate? Is this something which is necessary to mount the boots or does it provide some performance benefit? Many Thanks
  7. It was only a little club tournament so just me and the driver, who of course was busy driving.
  8. First tournament of the season today and I help out judging from the boat. It was mostly successful, although I did upset two skiers by scoring them 5.5 instead of 6. Both of them fell through the gates coming to rest about a meter past the gates. My view is that they weren't in a skiing position or in control therefore I didn't give them the full buoy. They argued that they physically made it through. Also one of them thought that if I'd scored him 6 the boat could have picked him up to ski his next pass. I didn't think you could do this. What's everyone views on this? They were only 18m @ 52kph passes so it's not like we're pro's!
  9. Light it...when the fire goes out there's no more gas. :)
  10. When people say salt water 'skis faster', do they mean: It feels faster meaning they're probably going a little slower and running late...or...you are actually travelling faster, in which case it would probably feel slower since it’s easier to run early?
  11. Strap on a pair. Loads of us skiing on the river Swan in Perth where there are bull sharks. You're never going to see them. As for the salt, run the engine through thoroughly and wash down properly after each use and there's no problem. That said, my fin block did cease up from over a year in salt water and never being opened up. Now I take it apart each month and rinse out properly.
  12. Cheers all. I'll have a little play and see what works.
  13. Not sure how necessary this is for a skier of my level (PB 2 @ 22off 36mph) but I thought I’d see if there’s a ZO setting that’s better for me rather than just using the default B2. Is there a preferred method to finding the ideal setting, ie find the right letter first then the number or visa versa?
  14. I've been using a 1mm Camaro Blacktec shorty over the Aussie winter (50-60 degs) and its been amazing. I hear of people in the UK skiing through the winter in the 2mm full suit; if its warm enough for there...
  15. Wow, a lot of very protective people here. I really don't see the issue. If they do anything stupid they'll hurt themselves long before the ski breaks. As long as they’re respectful what can go wrong??
  16. @Horton do you do anything differently at 36mph? You make it look similar to 34 just with sharper turns. I've been struggling with the pass forever. Really interesting video so thanks for uploading.
  17. Here’s an idea…solar panels at the lake to generate electricity which is used to split the lake water into Hydrogen and Oxygen. Hydrogen is stored and used for your Hydrogen fuel cell ski boat. No anxiety about running out of battery and cardon zero. Hate to think how much such a system would cost, but hey in 30+ years you never know…
  18. Of the 5 tournaments I competed in last season I missed an opening pass in 3 of them. I don't think making the opener harder will help.
  19. If you don't have to worry about tournaments, then there's probably lots to be gained for dropping 15 and 22off. Unfortunately they are so different from 28, particularly 15, and if you don't practice it you'll suffer in tournaments, as I discovered. Until I'm consistent at 58kph 22off, 15 is here to stay.
  20. Couldn't disagree more. You cheapen the accomplishment of scoring if you make the goals bigger. No other sport celebrates a goal/score like football (soccer) fans, because of the difficulty involved. You wouldn't get that release of tension like Suarez's 85th minute winner against England (as painful as it was to watch).
  21. @jipster43 - I don't get that at all, the format works just fine everywhere else in the world. The great thing about football (soccer) is that it's so fluid with so few interruptions. Surely that makes it more appealing. I once tried to watch an American football match which was being played at Wembley. It took so long I was a different shoe size by the time it finished.
  22. I massively underestimated the challenge 36mph would present. 12-18 turned out to be hugely ambitious and I only gained 5 buoys. If I can get over 5 this season I’ll be delighted. Means I’ll be into 14m.
