I am looking for a new full wetsuit for my son to use this spring. The chest zip wetsuits look intriguing and surfers seem to really like them for their flexibility. Does anyone have any experience with wearing a chest zip wetsuit with a life jacket? Does the zipper make that an uncomfortable combination?

The first video is pretty good

Regardless if he is the best or not, this is an exciting time for overall with Dorien and Joel duking it out.

I heard about this Saturday, now it is "official" (not an R tournament)

Camille stated on FB that he is expected to make a full recovery but will never jump again. It is so unfortunate that he is forced to quit jumping due to injury.
Heal well Zack!

My son is in need of a new reflex boot and liner but I just want to confirm I am buying the right shell. He wears a 9.5-10 US men's shoe and is using an Intuition medium (8/9) liner that his toes are touching the front of. I believe his Reflex shell is a size 8(?). Does it makes sense that an Intuition large liner would go in a reflex size 10 shell?

How does the introduction of Surepath impact the likelihood/timing of the record being increased?

A high school friend's son, Connor, was diagnosed with an aggressive baseball size brain tumor at 5 years old. Doctors from a few big name children's cancer centers said they didn't know if he would survive the surgery required to remove the tumor much less have any quality or longevity of life thereafter. They went to St Jude on a wing and a prayer, were given the best care possible and never charged a penny for his treatment or follow ups. Today Connor is a happy, healthy 13 year old with a bright future.
This is just one example of what St Jude can do for families.
Thanks Horton!

Very cool!
Another option may be to have a "tournament" that is made up of a teams best summer scores. Before college tournaments start each skier (ideally 5 men and women for each event from each team) would send in their best tournament score and overall performance that could then decide the team summer champion. It may encourage more college students to ski AWSA tournaments.

@Zaneh2oski is a great coach. I highly recommend his coaching for all 3 events.

From google earth it looks like the 55's at Stillwaters are ~400' from shore with a total lake length of ~2,000'. How does that compare to other sites that pull straight in?

You can't go wrong with a Radar Senate either pro built or lithium. Great capable ski with a lot of performance on a very stable platform.
There are a lot of great skis out there but the bigger question may be what are you going to use for bindings...

Taking my son to Regionals and Nationals. It is an easy decision with both only being a 2 hour drive. Next year regionals would be a 11+ hour drive, not sure where nationals will be but that would be much harder to justify.

@skierjp I will have to dig around. My son (who is the primary person I film) only gets in 22', maybe 28'. I will see if I have video of others

Here is an example of the GoPro 8 video from an Orbit at 15' off. The skier is a bit far away for my liking, but using a narrower field of view has the skier going out of frame in the turn some times.

The stabilization works very well on the 8.
You need an inexpensive tripod mount for the Gopro to attach to the ski doc. I would also suggest an extension pole, it gives you a better line of sight to the skier.

Last year I made a concerted effort to get really good video of my son skiing for coaching purposes. I tried a number of different things including a DJI gimble mounted to a skidoc orbit with an iphone 11 pro using the follow me feature in the DJI software. This worked really well, no shake when slack came out of the rope, the skier was always in the middle of the frame but DJI has not updated the software for multiple lens phones, I could only film in 1x zoom and the skier was a little too far away at 15' off.
I settled on a Gopro 8 mounted to the skidoc with a 12" extension to get a better line of sight on the skier. Video is smooth enough but if I used the narrowest field of view to get a good, fairly zoomed in picture, he would ski out of frame a few times a set. In a wider field of view it was too zoomed out making it more difficult to see the details.
Is anyone using a Gopro Max to film skiers from the boat? My understanding is with the 360 degree filming you can later reframe and zoom in on a subject. If my understanding is correct, this would allow smooth video where I can select the zoom and the skier would never be out of frame (even without the ski doc). I am tempted to order one of these to try it out but wanted to see if anyone has any experience.

Obviously the Beeman surface is the go to but cost can be an issue. Years ago I was at a site that was using side panels from a box truck. They had them made by Supreme Industries in Goshen, IN. It was a great surface with only one seem running right down the center of the ramp.
Good luck!

I echo what @Bdecker said. I have one on a Pro, both started on the TRA and advanced quickly.

Back in the days of skiing on the Fox River it was fairly early in the season and while pulling a skier we felt a thud and then the boat had a terrible vibration. Assuming we had trashed the prop, we limped it back to the launch. When we pulled the boat out we saw we had hit an ~12" 2x4 with the front skeg. The board was still in pace . Knocked it loose and went back to skiing.
