T-UP Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Just got my 65.5" Elite and was wondering how many degrees should I have in my wing, 34 MPH in to 35???
Baller thager Posted October 24, 2009 Baller Posted October 24, 2009 I've been running 8 degrees on my 67", Some guys are running 9 degrees. I'm at your level and speed.
Baller MAD11 Posted October 25, 2009 Baller Posted October 25, 2009 Wouldn't go over 8 or 8.5 degrees. I tried 9 and it started to shutdown too early and could'nt get the width I needed. Set up several of the other locals on Elites in the last few weeks and all running 8.
Baller skidawg Posted October 25, 2009 Baller Posted October 25, 2009 I run 7 on every ski I have ever rode but 8 seems money on elite
T-UP Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Just got my first pass in on my 65.5†Elite (15 MPH wind) and new RS-1 bindings (I’ve always used rubber), skied just has well as I do on my 09 RCX. Little windy, cold, wetsuit, new ski and new bindings i'm happy.
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted October 25, 2009 Baller_ Posted October 25, 2009 Comfy feet, that stayed warm ? - that's the best part of the RS Boots in the winter time.
T-UP Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Feet stayed warm! It’s going to take a few sets to get use to them. I have not molded them yet and I have not got my super feet yet. What works best, putting the super feet in the liners or under the liners? I would think under.ÂÂ
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted October 25, 2009 Baller_ Posted October 25, 2009 If you've got plenty of room, then put the footbeds inside the liners. I just used hot water from the boat's shower to soften my liners up and "heat mold" them.
Administrators Horton Posted October 29, 2009 Administrators Posted October 29, 2009 I run NONE. Not everyone is with me but TRY it without a wing. Baller ForrestGump Posted October 30, 2009 Baller Posted October 30, 2009 Interesting horton. I never ran a wing before on my RS1 or Senate C. Until I got on the Elite. Maybe I'll try it without one now. Right now I'm at 8 degrees.
Baller bhs Posted October 30, 2009 Baller Posted October 30, 2009 Chet is with you! Just got back and he is not using a wing and set 4 different peoples skis up with out one.
Baller Stevie Boy Posted October 31, 2009 Baller Posted October 31, 2009 T-UP what wing angle did you go for and are you using factory fin numbers, interested
T-UP Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 Factory fin numbers and 8 degrees on wing, I only have 2 sets on the ski and it was very windy when I skied. Have new RS-1 binding (I’ve been a rubber man until now). So, windy, cold, new bindings and ski = same # of buoys (3@35)as my 09 RCX. I plan to ski tomorrow, first with wing, and then with no wing, I’ll let you know!
Baller Stevie Boy Posted November 1, 2009 Baller Posted November 1, 2009 Hey is that wing upside down (mounting screws above) or the right way up (mounting screws below) Cheer,s
Baller ForrestGump Posted November 1, 2009 Baller Posted November 1, 2009 Took the wing off my elite today and set a new pb in the 2nd set. Took a few passes in the 1st set to settle in. After that it didn't feel all that different. I did switch from the longer glide one handed gate to the short, no glide one handed gate on the 2nd set because without the wing I was overshooting the gates and turning in with a bit of slack.
Baller Dirt Posted November 1, 2009 Baller Posted November 1, 2009 Shane, did it still feel as stable without the wing? Any trouble slowing down?
Baller ForrestGump Posted November 2, 2009 Baller Posted November 2, 2009 Ran 22, 28, and 32s. Didn't notice any difference in stability. The only place I noticed it not slowing down was at the pullout/turnin. I could've adjusted to compensate but wanted to go back to the quick one handed gate anyway.
T-UP Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 Stevie Boy, I have the wing upside down. After skiing my first set yesterday I didn’t remove my wing…the ski is soooo fast, but after reading what Shane said I will try it soon.
block Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I took my wing off yesterday-I was running it @8 upsidedown. Conditions were cool in Tennessee, my eighth and last set for the season. I felt very little difference in the ski without the wing, maybe a bit more balanced. I ran only 22 and 28.   I would like to here other comments on skiing w/o a wing on this ski.   Thanks!
