Baller skispray Posted August 6, 2010 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2010 Just an informal poll: when you make only one change to your fin (changing only one measurement - dft, depth, or length) do you leave the other adjustment screws unchanged or do you leave the other measurements unchanged? Because the fin block is one fixed piece a change in one of these settings inevitably changes the others ever so slightly. For example, if you were to add or remove depth to your fin while leaving the foremost allen screw and DFT allen screw untouched, the fact that you moved the fins placement in the ski to adjust depth will also slightly change your length and DFT measurements. So when you make one adjustment to your fin at a time, as is recommended, do you simply change one of the adjustment screws at a time, with slightly different numbers for all 3 measurements, or do you play with the fin until you've held the two adjustments constant you aren't trying to change? Baller Roger Posted August 6, 2010 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2010 I leave the other measurements unchanged, this frequently requires adjusting one or both of the remaining measurements when changing the one I'm targeting.
Baller Jim Neely Posted August 6, 2010 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2010 I make sure the other two measurements stay the same execpt for the occaisional change between sets when I'm skiing with several other skiers and I can't take 30 minutes to set all three dimensions. Baller Drago Posted August 7, 2010 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2010 I know what you mean, skispray. If i am just beginning to set up a ski, I don't worry about the other settings changing a bit {like the dft getting smaller by a couple thousandths when I add depth}. When I'm down to the nitty -gritty, I make sure I'm only changing one setting.
