rotb35
hey guys im looking at ski it again and the only skis in my price are an inch long or an inch short. What kind of effect does a ski an inch long and an inch short have? i ski at 34 and 36.
Baller BraceMaker Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 What length are you looking for? New skis I believe the wisdom is go long when in doubt, and demo it either way. If ski-it-again you can always try to resell the ski!
Baller Razorskier1 Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 Ever since skis got better I've been a fan of longer. Used to be you needed shorter to get them to turn. Now even a long ski will turn like a monster and they seem to run better in rough water.
Baller Waternut Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 A ski that is too short will start sinking on you at the buoy and get you out of position. It's less noticeable at your speeds but it can still happen. The shorter ski turns better but because it turns better, I've found that it's easier to bite off too much in the turn. A lot of the decision should be based on your skill level but as a 15 off skier, my vote is go longer.....or better yet, wait until a ski becomes available in your size. Baller MrJones Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 I would go slightly large vs. slightly small. You will need to make sure the fin is set up correctly though. You can man handle a smaller ski, but a bigger one will need to be set up right to work easily for you.
