Baller ScaredOfCorbets Posted February 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 9, 2013 I see the Reflexworld website describes the white cuff has Flexion Brake, for slalom skiing. What/how is the brake supposed to do? More importantly, what are the advantages? Looks to me it allows setting the forward cuff canting, and restricted movement. Baller thager Posted February 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 9, 2013 The brake is a strap that restricts the cuff from further forward movement allowing a skier to put pressure on the boot tongue which transfers to the ski tip.
Baller MattP Posted February 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 9, 2013 And in the case you OTF. The strap will prevent you from over extending tendons/ligaments and cause a earlier release.
Baller Gloersen Posted February 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 9, 2013 The white cuff has no restrictions up until the nylon strap becomes taut with dorsiflexion. This can be a disadvantage if set too short with too much tip pressure or the converse if set at max length. The thickness/compliance of the liner has some effect on the transition to tip pressure. An elastic cord can be interposed with some effort to allow a progressive load engaging tip pressure and the strap set at max length. Otherwise it's a bit all or nothing. If a first time Reflex user, the black cuff may be better.

Baller Waternut Posted February 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 9, 2013 Very interesting to hear someone say that a Reflex noobie may be better off with the black over the white. Glad I pulled the trigger on the black early then.
Nick Sullivan
@Gloersen Is that the standard Reflex linder?
Baller Gloersen Posted February 20, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 20, 2013 Intuition. Seems the fit is better and easier to derive consistent buckle application which imho is critical to reproducible results with the Reflex hardshell.
