Why ski in ELR tournaments?

This is directed at 34 MPH (55K) skiers,of which there seems to be a lot on BOS. What reasons do you have to pay more and ski in ELR class tournaments? There may be various reasons and I'm eager to hear all the possibilities.

This year so far I've done 15 C rounds and 17 E/L rounds. For me, it was to be at different sites, with better skiers than me, and really good drivers.

State record is a good reason, however here in KY all records must be set in state. Doesn't matter what you do in another state, if it didn't happen here, no record. Our by-laws kinda look at it as similar to a site record. KY record is a record set in KY by a KY skier. I understand other record stipulations in other states though.

In KY we maintain two sets of records. One for state at large and one for state tournament only. But, I digress and hijack my own thread.

I find the quality of officials and drivers to be higher at records. For me it's worth the coin to know everything will be dialed. Also, more higher level skiers which as @OB says will raise your game
