Baller rodltg2 Posted August 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2014 I've been working with Wakecraft Boats ( wakeboard specific ) here and there since 06. Help selling boats , boat shows etc. of course hoping to get a DD made. Well in collaboration with Calabria , they will be bringing back the barefooter and a DD but using Wood free construction , modern electronics including ZO. Will keep them Barebones shooting for $35k new. There is a red and white barefooter almost complete. I will post updates and pics soon.

Baller 6balls Posted August 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2014 I don't remember a Calabria footer. Brendella, MC, Centurion, Flighty (later Malibu), Sanger. Will be curious to see it. Hard to come in at that price point given cost of a new big outboard these days.
Baller gregy Posted August 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2014 What was Calabria, they come out of MB / Brendella?
Chris Taylor
Looking forward to seeing more of this boat.
Baller usaski1 Posted August 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2014 Probably a Shortline Comp with ZO. Good boat. Had one for 8 years. Wakes were low, but sharp and hard. Small. 80 inch beam. Unless they are going to come up with a new hull? I hope they put a Indmar motor in it... not a fan of the Merc. I had. Mine in 02 has no wood in the hull. Baller_ Wish Posted August 6, 2014 Baller_ Share Posted August 6, 2014 Wow, consider in the last 4 yrs, if you include this brand, 3 boat builders are back in the DD 3 event game. Things are looking up.
Baller 6balls Posted August 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2014 The integrated platforms and forward cockpit on the barefoot Calabria make it look mighty like the barefoot Brendella. Just pulled my son footing with the old '91 Centurion Falcon Barefoot.

Baller_ Wish Posted August 7, 2014 Baller_ Share Posted August 7, 2014 Gekko, Centurion, Calabria. We had the big 3 for a reason....that's all there was Now we seem to be drifting back to the 90's when WSM actually had a variety of boats to review. Come on American Skier. Baller 6balls Posted August 7, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2014 @oldjeep I've got one that can dislocate shoulders and throw observers from their seat on hole shot...it makes Centurion memorable in a hurry : ) Ran back across the lake chop at 60 to home...but geez I had to dump a bunch more gas in it just now. Baller GregHind Posted August 7, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2014 @rodltg2 when you said wakecraft I thought David telling the flightcraft man?? Then I assumed he had the Malibu barefooter moulds. Now that would be a boat to bring back!! I don't know anything much about the Calabria barefoot back hopefully it is a good thing. The new outboards are a lot better. A flightcraft with an Optimax or etec averages about 2gph for family skiing. Nice to see the economy picking back up over there... Baller rodltg2 Posted August 8, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted August 8, 2014 Yes. Dave Telling. He however sold the flight craft to Malibu. They have the molds or at least rights to them.
Baller thager Posted August 8, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 8, 2014 Bring back the Hydrodyne Comp!
Baller DaveD Posted August 8, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 8, 2014 i skied behind a Hydrodyne outboard a couple weeks ago. Nice flat wakes.
Baller GregHind Posted August 8, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 8, 2014 @rodltg2 has he tried to buy the moulds back. They stopped producing the Malibu flightcraft barefooter 10 years ago maybe more?? Hey he is that clever, why doesn't he just dream up a new barefoot boat hull
Baller rodltg2 Posted August 8, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted August 8, 2014 The grass is greener on the wakeboard side , so he is developing a 24' wake machine. To make price point ski / barefoot boats gotta use what's already avail.
Baller jcamp Posted August 8, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 8, 2014 @rodltg2 is Robert Jessen still the owner of Calabria?

Baller rodltg2 Posted September 26, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted September 26, 2014 This boat is pretty much ready to go. Still on the fence on the DD model on which way to go, Will keep Ballers posted as things progress.

Baller usaski1 Posted September 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 26, 2014 Those factory pics bring back the memories! I worked at the factory for 2 years in the early 00's. Lots of decal making and parts backup man. I still drive by on 99 every few years (I live in Austin TX now) , and kind of wonder how things are going.
