Baller Cumby85 Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 Im looking for a ski vest for my 9 year old daughter. She is small and very thin. 52 pounds and chest size is 23 1/2. Some of the youth vests start at 25 inch chest size. Any recommendations?
Baller oldjeep Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 My kids have always been super skinny and had the same issue. Best thing to look for is a jacket where the side panels have no flotation so that you can cinch the jacket in more without it bunching. At the time the ONeil stuff was what we mostly wound up with, but that was a long time ago.
Baller Chef23 Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 I bet you could get Eagle to custom make a vest in the size you need and they could put enough flotation in it to make it a USCG vest.
Baller oldjeep Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 Don't they have to go through an official process to get a USCG seal?
Baller MrJones Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 Eagle for all vest needs. I have 3 kids in them. They also last super well. Our first Eagle kids vest was passed down for years.
Baller Chef23 Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 @oldjeep maybe if they custom made it it wouldn't have the USCG seal but they could get the right amount of flotation in it.
Baller Kelvin Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 +1 for the Eagle custom vests for kids.
Baller brody Posted May 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 I bought my 9 yr daughter an eagle vest an she loves it. Only thing I would consider is the swimming ability of the child. If not a good swimmer then make sure it is USCG approved
Baller Cumby85 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Baller Share Posted May 15, 2015 I see Eagle has a CGA vest that goes up to 90 pounds. I just dont know how loose it will fit. Ive heard the Oneil fits kind of snug.
