Baller tfriess Posted June 25, 2015 Baller Posted June 25, 2015 Hello all. A few of my friends are talking about us taking a road trip in the Midwest to explore different lakes to ski and to just have a good time. We live in southeastern wisconsin, but we are willing to travel probably not much more than 6 or 7 hours. Has anyone done a trip like this or know of any great lakes/rivers? Ideally it'd be a new lake each day, while camping in the evening. If there was a course, that would be awesome, be we are looking for glass water and spectacular sights. Thanks.
Baller jhughes Posted June 25, 2015 Baller Posted June 25, 2015 Lake Shelbyville is pretty vast and neat, as is Lake Clinton which is heated by a nuclear reactor. Both have solid camping options. Both in central IL.
Baller jhughes Posted June 25, 2015 Baller Posted June 25, 2015 I forgot to add that also in Central IL is Liquid Edge, private lake with a course. Doug will rent the entire lake out for half and full days as well. Up north you've got the Minocqua chain as well as the Eagle River and Three Lakes chains. There is a course on the Three Lakes chain and Minocqua chain.
Baller Niles Taylor Posted June 25, 2015 Baller Posted June 25, 2015 @jhughes help me out with the course in Minocqua. Where is it. I'm going to be in the area soon with my MC PS205
Baller mlange Posted June 25, 2015 Baller Posted June 25, 2015 Unless it's changed there are two courses on the Three Lakes chain, but one of them is tucked away so it's not real visible. Course #1 is on Big Stone where the ski show. Chances of getting good water there is... not good. There's a second course tucked away on the east side of Long Lake IIRC. But if you do Three Lakes don't worry about the courses. Go over the boat lift because it's something different to do and ski on Crystal (aka Mud) Lake. Mike
