Why do I get emails?

Saying "joe skier" commented on a particular thread? I guess I can understand if it's a thread I had commented on, but I get the emails on some that I've never even looked at. At times they kinda clutter my inbox. Can I opt out of email notifications that "someone commented on something"? @horton? @mattp?

@leonL check your settings.

Profile -> Edit Profile -> Notification Preferences

Also check and see if you favorited the thread. You will see the star in the upper right hand corner of the original post as gold.

You may have accidentally bookmarked threads to receive information for updates. There is a little star icon next to the thread titles that would be highlighted if you selected it. I've inadvertently activated these before when browsing through on my phone.

Very easy to accidentally hit the star and likes/dislikes when scrolling on a phone
