Baller Dacon62 Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 Have heard that there is a hull spray fix or reduction solution for this vintage of Mastercraft. Any pics or comments on this?

supergadget
I second @ozski! ps @goodeskier - you are behind the boat the whole time. You will never see it anyway.
Baller gregy Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 They did some on the old protour boats. Have you looked on the Mastercraft forum?
Baller GOODESkier Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 @supergadget true........ but I would have to walk up to it on the dock....... Looks like a bad banana!
Baller Dacon62 Posted November 2, 2015 Author Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 Not much I could find on Team Talk. Talk of it but no solution mentioned.
Baller keithh2oskier Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 I did some research on the topic myself this summer. No confirmation on what was done to the actual pro tour 190 boats which were supposedly modified for this reason. There was a guy that had a regular 190 and his buddy had a protour 190 (not actually used in the protour) and the spray chimes were identical. Supposedly you could file away a bit on the chimes and it would knock the spray chime down another line length.
Baller ALPJr Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 There was definitely some detail about that on the mastercraft teamtalk forum about ten years ago. Something about adding a notch in the flute.

Baller ALPJr Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 Spray yes, although it didn't stop a lot of these folks from running 39off behind older hulls. http://www.iwsf.com/history/displayrecords.php
Baller Edbrazil Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 Back when in the 1986--1993 range, doing Boat Tests for The Mag, there would be tournament- type boats with spray problems. If a certain manufacturer brought 3 similar boats, they might have 3 different spray patterns. Bringing a boat back and noting a problem to the manufacturer's rep., they would submit it again a bit later. A bit of under-hull investigation revealed the secret: Bondo added. Baller LLUSA Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 You hook the back of the boat by adding bondo a yardstick wide and across the entire bottom about 1/16 thick, did this to several early 90 boats and it does take care of the spray
Baller ForrestGump Posted November 2, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 2, 2015 At the austin stop of the work cup tour in '97, I watched them with the two PS190s up on the trailers with the back of the boats hanging off and they were bondo'ng the crap out of the hulls. This was the afternoon before it started while they were getting the site ready.
Baller Dacon62 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Baller Share Posted November 7, 2015 So a little hook takes care of it? Sounds easy enough...any other tricks?
Baller Jordan Posted November 7, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 7, 2015 I think that the area that they used to alter on those boats was the spray relief pockets on the sides near the stern.
