Howa1500
Has this happened to anyone else? Do they make a spare white part to hold my binding?
art90notch
@Howa1500, I think there has already been a thread about this, but just contact reflex directly. Send them pictures of the heel cup and they will replace it. They took care of mine with no hassle at all. Hope this helps.
Baller gregy Posted August 1, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2016 There's another thread talking about it. Reflex knows about the problems and supposed to be working it. Mine broke, got a replacement. Replacement lasted two days and cracked. gorilla glue works to glue them back together.
Howa1500
The heel of my boot is still secure in the binding... Do you think it is alright to use it for a set or two anyways? It doesn't feel like it's coming lose

Baller Gloersen Posted August 1, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2016 if what is pictured remains intact it will be fine to ski with it.

Howa1500
When I fell my binding released but took a chunk of the heel cup with it @keithh2oskier
Baller BraceMaker Posted August 1, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2016 How is it attached to the plate? I'd probably puddle JB weld on the plate with a sheet of saran wrap on top and be done with those breaking.
Baller keithh2oskier Posted August 1, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2016 @BraceMaker there are 4 screws that counter sink through the bottom. A close look at the section that broke off and you can see a little bit of white plastic still connected to the screw.
thrix
@Howa1500 not directly related to the topic, but I notice that the distance between your two bindings is kinda big. I used to ski like that as well some years back. In my mind I was more stable on the ski. When I tried to bring them closer two things happened. a) I started skiing better, a lot better b) I started falling less frequently, a lot less. Howa1500
@thrix I completely agree. But If my bindings were closer together the release mechanism wouldn't have enough room to open and allow the reflex boot to fit in the heel cup and under the toe bar. I have no choice on this one. Switching over to a RTP tomorrow.
thrix
Try the R-Style from Reflex before going to RTP. Easier transition from double bindings.
Howa1500
@thrix that's what I use now. But if I put them too close then the release can't open enough to fit my front binding
thrix
That's strange. I have the same setup and the two plates are almost touching each other. My R-style is one size smaller than the front boot though.
Baller Chef23 Posted August 1, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2016 I saw guys at Travers ski school making similar heal cups with Bondo about 3 years ago. Kris Lapoint has a home made version also. Not sure what he made it out of. I think they were covering the boot with Saran Wrap or some sort of spray that would let the boot release then putting the Bondo on and up the sides of the boot then trimming it down with a Dremel. PattyD
Howa, I will try to get pictures, but my spacing (with r type rear) and cracked cup are identical to yours. I would definitely like to move mine closer together, so I will have to fiddle again tonight.
Baller BlueSki Posted August 5, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 5, 2016 Reflex made a change to the white cup. Mine broke and the free replacement I was sent did not go as high on the boot and the boot stressed the new cup much less. No issues with the new one. Baller BraceMaker Posted August 5, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 5, 2016 It is. But I would like to see a user sentiment poll about the importance of some of the features being tauted as improvement in binding products. Do hardshell need 100% contact to the plate? Is the transfer between the foot and the ski that much improved or is the flat sole on the boot under clamping from the silvretta loaded enough to transfer well? What about the talk of ski flex and plates being stiffening to the ski? Would it not increase the stiffness of the plate to clamp a rigid boot to a rigid base on the ski. Just some pondering. I've often wondered if the heel should have more degrees of motion and the toe be the transfer point basically allowing the boot to torsionally load by having the release point lower on the heel of the boot. Baller Gloersen Posted August 5, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 5, 2016 @BraceMaker - concur. IMO the current Supershell (v1.0) is too responsive as it is regarding edge control.
