Making hopper trick skis faster/less drag

I have acquired a pair of hopper waterskis (trick ski size) and they are made from a molded plastic instead of fiberglass. They are fun to ski on but drag way more then trick skis. Any ideas to make them have less drag? I tried sanding them but it didn't help much. Add a type of coating, paint, fiberglass, bondo?

Are they pretty bendy? I saw something similar at a sporting good store (MC sports?) anyway if I recall they seemed really flexible - which if so when you ride they will bend and that causes them to plow around.
