Baller jetpilotg4 Posted August 20, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2016 Hey does anyone know where or how to test a lake water sample? Maybe I really do not want to know what the water is really like ......

Administrators Horton Posted August 20, 2016 Administrators Share Posted August 20, 2016 depends on what you are testing for. If take a sample to a lab they need to know what to test for. Baller LeonL Posted August 20, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2016 Like @Horton said. If you were to seek a complete full spectrum analysis (like we've come to expect on CSI) it would cost you a fortune.

Baller eleeski Posted August 20, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2016 Find an independent lab - there are lots in socal. Coloform is the most important test, this is what gives you diarrhea. But an old dump site might have other chemical contamination. A local lab might have insight on what to test for. Your nose will be a valuable tool if you can smell something. Testing is a good idea - especially if you pass. If there are issues, do address them. Be proactive. Sometimes it's OK to personally ski if the water isn't perfect - just be aware. Standards have gotten stricter since some of us learned to ski in the sewage treatment discharge. Eric
