Baller Orlando76 Posted August 22, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 22, 2016 I always wanted to ask this and a recent topic reminded me of this, but what is a promo boat?
Baller_ MISkier Posted August 22, 2016 Baller_ Share Posted August 22, 2016 It is a boat provided by the manufacturer to a representative for use and promotion at ski tournaments. Typically, the representative is a skier and enters into an agreement with the manufacturer to transport the boat to tournaments, care for it, promote it, and, ultimately, sell it at the end of the season. The representatives do pay for the boats and essentially own them. There are pricing considerations given to the representative and that can also translate into savings on the retail price for the end consumer who purchases the boat. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
paco
@Orlando76 Thanks for asking. I had a close assumption that @MISkier definitely cleared up!
Baller klindy Posted August 22, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 22, 2016 @MISkier they don't "essentially own them". The vast majority of promo"s are "actually owned" by those who are in the program. There are certainly likely exceptions like the top end of the elite skiers, but even that not a given.
