ToddF
Jasper or MichiganMotorz, these seem to be the two big guys, has anyone had any experience with either of these. About how many hours labor is an engine swap for a shop, any thoughts are appreciated Todd
Baller oldjeep Posted September 14, 2016 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2016 I'd use MichiganMotorz personally. Had decent luck buying parts. I'd buy a new crate over a rebuild http://www.michiganmotorz.com/350ci-vortec-base-marine-engine-1996-current-replacement-p-109.html
Baller Orlando76 Posted September 14, 2016 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2016 I've done a Jasper, 2 ATK's and one local rebuild (just one of these engines were marine). Jasper was the worst.
Baller_ DW Posted September 14, 2016 Baller_ Share Posted September 14, 2016 @ToddF : If a GM engine that you need to replace, as noted by @oldjeep a GM crate engine is a good option. You also have a variety of upgrade options available from the various crate options. If you do decide to deviate from an exact replacement, just note that the marine engine does have a specific marine camshaft which is a specific grind. ToddF
@dw I was planning on getting a replacement no upgrades It seems Michigan has no core charge where Jasper does, I could probably get a couple hundred dollars for the engine.
