Carbon Pro Makes Way for More

Centurion Boats has learned a ton from the vacuum infused World-class 3-event towboat that is the Carbon Pro. Centurion is practicing the art of continuous improvement by making way for a more versatile 3-event towboat with broader appeal and a more accessible price point. This new Carbon Pro model is still in the development stages and will increase the marketing-ability of a 3-event boat in the model line-up.

 

The Centurion Carbon Pro is undeniably one of the best tournament boat values available. Bulletproof construction, a PCM power-plant and a strong belief in “performance over frills” have all made the Carbon Pro a favorite among the three-event community world-wide. The time has come for the Carbon Pro to make way for a 3-event towboat that will expand its impact on the towed-watersports marketplace. This new boat is in the in the works and will be released during the 2018 model year. While fleshing out this new more versatile direction the Carbon Pro will maintain its approved tournament towboat commitment and superior wake, pull and drive-ability. The new towboat will be built using the Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP) like all other current Centurion and Supreme boats. VIP creates a precise, controllable glass to resin ratio making the new Carbon Pro even stronger and lighter than ever. VIP is also environmentally friendly meaning the resin is cured in a closed environment reducing emissions by as much as 90%. Centurion & Supreme Boats VP of Production and Engineering, Shane Stillman, leads the design team in creating the perfect blend of state of the art construction, performance and versatility. Watch for this all-new 3-event boat to be released late in the 2017 season.

 

For the 2016-2017 tournament season skiers can look forward to Centurion Carbon Pros at sanctioned Regional and National events all over the country. Ok guys here is what I know. The 2017 boat is basically the 16 boat plus what ever little tweaks that happen every year anyway. The 2018 is under development. Open bow? Yea I have heard the rumor but I have no idea if that part of the engineering has started.

 

What I think is they know they have a really good product and it is slowly growing in market share. Almost everyone likes skiing behind it and the boats get better every year. In 2018 I believe there will be a new top deck and they will recut the mold for the hull. If that means a different hull shape or not I do not know. As a slalom boat I do not know why they would change anything about the hull.

When I ordered my 17 what Horton said was exactly what I was told by Paul. I was not going to order a boat that going away. Real happy with the 17.

Exciting news overall, but it does make me kind of scratch my head a bit like...really? Ok, so you're going to come out with a new boat in a year. So why are you telling me now? You really want me to sit in anticipation? Or you just couldn't stand all the attention Malibu was getting in the moment? Or your dealers were complaining they needed something for the upcoming boat show season? Meh, ok, well, see you back here in a year I guess?

@escmanaze, my guess on the timing of this announcement would be to make the potential buyers of the new Malibu think twice and that there may be an even more cost effective option available soon. It would be particularly targeting those that really like the Centurion, but want/need/require an open bow.

@MISkier - if that were the case, wouldn't they have to come out and say - hey we're making an open bow boat next year? And honestly I doubt that many people who are planning on a Malibu are waiting for Centurion to build something, their target market seems to be the guys holding onto the 20 year old ski boats.

Maybe they know there are rumors out there of them being shutdown.... there was even a thread on here about it. If I was a company I would want to dispell that rumor as quickly as possible. I would release something not only saying that I was still up and running but that I have big plans for the near future....

@skier2788 - best thing they could do to dispel the notion of the CP going away would be to have it shown on their website. All you see there now is their very successful wake boat line with no indication that they make a ski boat for 2017.

@MISkier I think I can see your logic. Basically, Malibu just came out with a new boat that will be the cheapest open bow awsa approved ski boat on the market. Maybe Centurion is putting out a gentle nudge "hey if you wait one more year, our 2018 open bow centurion will be even cheaper."

 

I can see Centurions tactic there, but frankly, if I was Malibu, I'd probably be kinda bugged by that tactic, although I guess, it is capitalism, they are competitors, so if they are bugging their closest competitor pricewise, maybe that is a good sign they are doing something right.

@oldjeep just called my number. I'm buying a boat this coming year. My biggest struggle is mental. Why am I going to spend $45,000 on a boat with more hours than my 98 TSC, which I love? I want a ZO boat, but I'm not happy with that being the only thing going for it. My next boat will be ZO and Open Bow.

If I can buy a new Centurion/Supreme, TOURNAMENT RATED boat, for what I would have spent on a used 200 OB, that's what I'm going to do.

So yeah, it's hard to get rid of a 20 year old boat with 300 hours.
