Britpilot Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Anybody used the new Garmin Virb Ultra 30 yet for filming slalom skiing from the boat? I notice that it has a two digital zoom settings (Garmin calls it "Field of view"). I have found Go-Pros to be useless for mounting on the ski pylon as the wide angle lens make the skier look like he is in another state! How much larger does the digital zoom settings make the skier?
Baller ForrestGump Posted December 15, 2016 Baller Posted December 15, 2016 I've not used one from the boat. But I've used one in cycling. Even it's wide angle default setting is tighter than the Gopro. That said we used zoom all the time without issue. I think it'd be ok from the boat with one of the two zoom settings turned on.
Britpilot Posted December 15, 2016 Author Posted December 15, 2016 I wish I could find an actual example of an image taken at the three different zoom levels. Could you do that for me? Maybe get a person to stand in a field, center them in the frame and take a picture at the different zoom levels. It would be very useful I think.
