Baller bigskieridaho Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 So I am looking at a couple skis to buy. These two are in my price range and sound awesome. Just not sure which one is the best to ski on. I weigh 200- ski at 34 into 28 off. Insight please guys! TW has an S2 he said he would sell me, or I can get a new old stock A3 Radioactive. Baller Chef23 Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 I much prefer the S2 to the A3. At 34 mph I would recommend the S2.
Baller MNshortliner Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 The S2 was the smoothest ski I have ever skied on. Very forgiving, you can ride a little tail heavy and get away with it but the one thing I would say is it wasn't as aggressive as some other skis I have rode. Never skied the A3. Baller jhughes Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 S2 is one of my favorite skis, truly one of the best.
Baller ThePantsManCan Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 S2
Baller Luzz Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 I feel like saying A3 since that second generation was SUPER GOOD. Any chance you could post a video of you skiing? The two skis are quite different… Also, what sizes would you get of either? Ski coach at Jolly Ski, Organizer of the San Gervasio Pro Am (2023 Promo and others), Co-Organizer of the Jolly Clinics. Baller bigskieridaho Posted April 5, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 The A3 is a 67" and the S2 is a 67.
Baller Deep11 Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 I skied the S2 for a season and tried an A3 - went straight up to my PB first set - so no crazy differences. Think you'll find that 67.5 S2 is the size recommended for your weight whilst 67 A3 is on the edge = S2
Baller bigskieridaho Posted April 5, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 @Deep11 I can get a 68" A3, but I heard those skis run big as far as feel.
Baller TEL Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 The A3 is one of the smoothest turning skies I ever skied on, was comfortable on my first pass, This from a long time Kidder, KD and D3 skier. I hope this is their last name change
Members brettmainer
S2. The fact that it is from Terry and you might be able to get a lesson out of this is an added bonus, but even without that, S2.
Baller Luzz Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 I'd say if you can get your hands on a 68" A3, it would be a very good shape. Definitely not 67". 67.5" S2 should also work, but again. They are two very different skis. Baller Bill22 Posted April 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 5, 2017 I have wanted to try an S2 for a long time but you almost never see a 65.5" on skiitagain.
Baller Bill22 Posted April 6, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 How many ballers think the S2 with the speed skin was a considerable improvement? If I remember correctly that was the 2013 S2?
Baller savaiusini Posted April 6, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 FYI, Speedskin was added to the S2 for the 2014 model year. Sam Avaiusini - HO Sports Company - Director of Inside Sales and Business Operations

Baller bigtex2011 Posted April 6, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 For me the A2 was the bomb. I struggled on the A3. It seems the S2's have better reviews based on what I am seeing in the above post. Good Luck
Baller Ralph Lee Posted April 6, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 Skied pretty good on the A3 at 230 lbs
Baller bigskieridaho Posted April 6, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 I might just give TW a call and have him bring it to the lake. Seems the consensus is for the S2.... Too hard of a decision when I really want to try the A3 also.
208skier
Could you get both and then sell the one you don't like as well? Might be some hassle factor but sounds like they ski so differently that it would be fun to try them side by side.
Baller parkerc2112 Posted April 6, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 S2. Good stick
Baller Ali Posted April 6, 2017 Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 A3 for me, was faster. The S2 was smooth when I tried it but I always found myself skiing narrow, could not get the width I liked
Baller bigskieridaho Posted April 6, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted April 6, 2017 @208skier wish I could do that. I also have my eye on a V Type. Wonder how that would compare?
