wheelskis
I'm new to the sport of slalom and purchased a boat this year ( 85 mastercraft) . I figured finding people to ski with would be easy but it seems like I can hardly find people to ski with or have a spotter when I want to go.( my odd hours I sometimes work don't seem to help) I've looked into ski club memberships but the prices are a little steep. Is there any resource for finding local skiers who free ski the local lakes ? Or is it one of those things where you just hope to run into like minded people? (people willing to wake up early to ski good water) I'm in the sacramento area and know I'm surrounded by private ski lakes but they seem to be elite secret societies. Any help? Baller 6balls Posted September 8, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 8, 2017 Good post, I'm nowhere near there...but more detail on your location may help. There are lots of us out here, and lots of us know others...some of whom may be there. Welcome to the forum!
Baller keithh2oskier Posted September 8, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 8, 2017 Hi @wheelskis, I am in the Sacramento area. Lots of skiers in the region. Where about do you live and usually boat? You might want to check this out Folsom Watersports club Not sure if its active or not or what the requirements are.
wheelskis
I'm in citrus heights ca. I have mostly been skiing Folsom lake, both north fork and south fork. Drove up to lake clementine yesterday and checked it out. Haven't yet been on the Sacramento river but would like to check it out. I would also like to find a lake that has a course on it but all I could find was berryesa as the closest. looks like that folsom watersports club is pretty dried up

Baller Dirt Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 There is a club at Winchester that may be close enough and cheaper than the other private lakes. Someone may have more details to share with you.
Baller bigskieridaho Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 This is your resource. BOS has helped me immensely on finding crews everywhere I travel for work so I can go skiing. I am sure you will get a lot more responses from all of these ballers, especially being in Cali. Good luck! Can always come skiing with me if you ever are in Idaho.
Baller skialex Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 Maybe hunting for dislikes or pandas, But a 85 Mastercraft would not get you as many ski friends as a 2017 one B) B) o:) Just trying to be funny!
Baller braindamage Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 Yep. I agree that it's tough. People get into a groove with their ski crews. A lot of factors need to align: priorities, available time, skiing goals, personality, etc. It would be great if there was a "find a 3rd" app that could facilitate connections. Keep focused on asking people to ski, be a bulldog (a really nice friendly one), and eventually you will find yourself with a consistent crew. What's a bigger bummer is when your consistent crew falls apart for some reason and you have to start again from scratch.

Baller ScottScott Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 Take a look at meetup.com. I did a quick search and found a boat group in sacramento with 430 members. I have met several skiers in the central florida area through a boat group via meetup.
Baller GWaterski Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 @ScottScott - or just by wearing your BOS TShirt around the lakes :-)
Baller ALPJr Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 If you ever bring that boat to Connecticut we'll be happy to join you! One of my all time fav's. Any pic's?
Baller ScottScott Posted September 9, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2017 @GWaterski Ha!!! That does work pretty well..... assuming the exchanged contact info is followed up on, unlike my history. I keep thinking about it....and still intend to. Business has kept me hopping lately (unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it.)
wheelskis
Thanks everyone for the input. I've had a few members contact me and offer to help me get plugged in a little bit. It seems to be a real great community here @bigskieridaho if I'm in Idaho anytime soon ill let you know, my wife is itching to move up that way. Her best friend is in the Coeur de alene (sp?) area and brother is in Caldwell. @skialex I'm sure a brand new ski boat would help my chances haha I went to the California pro am at bell acqua last month to spectate and was surprised at how few people were there. I'm hoping to make it out to the mastercraft tournament and maybe meet some new faces. heres the boat when I picked it up. alt="" /> and after some tlc
