skiing friends

I'm new to the sport of slalom and purchased a boat this year ( 85 mastercraft) . I figured finding people to ski with would be easy but it seems like I can hardly find people to ski with or have a spotter when I want to go.( my odd hours I sometimes work don't seem to help) I've looked into ski club memberships but the prices are a little steep.

Is there any resource for finding local skiers who free ski the local lakes ? Or is it one of those things where you just hope to run into like minded people? (people willing to wake up early to ski good water) I'm in the sacramento area and know I'm surrounded by private ski lakes but they seem to be elite secret societies.

Any help?

I'm in citrus heights ca. I have mostly been skiing Folsom lake, both north fork and south fork. Drove up to lake clementine yesterday and checked it out. Haven't yet been on the Sacramento river but would like to check it out. I would also like to find a lake that has a course on it but all I could find was berryesa as the closest.

looks like that folsom watersports club is pretty dried up

Yep. I agree that it's tough. People get into a groove with their ski crews. A lot of factors need to align: priorities, available time, skiing goals, personality, etc.

It would be great if there was a "find a 3rd" app that could facilitate connections.

Keep focused on asking people to ski, be a bulldog (a really nice friendly one), and eventually you will find yourself with a consistent crew.

What's a bigger bummer is when your consistent crew falls apart for some reason and you have to start again from scratch.

@GWaterski Ha!!! That does work pretty well..... assuming the exchanged contact info is followed up on, unlike my history. I keep thinking about it....and still intend to. Business has kept me hopping lately (unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it.)

Thanks everyone for the input. I've had a few members contact me and offer to help me get plugged in a little bit. It seems to be a real great community here

@bigskieridaho if I'm in Idaho anytime soon ill let you know, my wife is itching to move up that way. Her best friend is in the Coeur de alene (sp?) area and brother is in Caldwell.

@skialex I'm sure a brand new ski boat would help my chances haha

I went to the California pro am at bell acqua last month to spectate and was surprised at how few people were there. I'm hoping to make it out to the mastercraft tournament and maybe meet some new faces.

heres the boat when I picked it up.
