  1. I gave it a try, and after a couple of “operator error” issues on my part it worked great! I got solid coaching and now I just need to get on the water and do it!
  2. Doesn’t EVERY dealer say this EVERY spring and fall?
  3. No way to really know, but it’s difficult to believe that the sender units for the other 3 gauges are bad. you could take it out, make sure all wires are connected and clean any corrosion to see if it’s simply a faulty connection. If that doesn’t do anything, then I’d say replacing with a new one will solve your problem.
  4. ^^^this. i did same as UW skier for my TXi in 2019 and mine are still attached and going strong!
  5. “Cost Efficiency” is what the CEO says Malibu is focused on. if you've gone through an 80/20 exercise in business, then you know that driving cost efficiency is about focusing on growing the 20% of products that make up 80% of your revenue to the 20% of customers who make up 80% of revenues. That is where you get cost efficiency. Typically a company makes their best profit here, and that subsidizes the smaller contribution products to the smaller customers. slalom boats are a minutiae of Malibu’s business, and competition skiers are a minutiae of their customer base. This isn’t about asset utilization, it’s about eliminating the variable costs. Unfortunately, this is how math of profitability works. I think Malibu intended to discontinue the TXi but was caught off guard by the noise it generated so this decision to continue without spending any money is the fallback.
  6. There are a lot of ways to obsolete a product line. Starving it of resources and promotion is a pretty common move. It won’t take long before it just dies.
  7. Bump… I just bought. ‘22 Prostar. I’m new to MC, so I was surprised when I learned of this silly fuel management system. I was out yesterday and started with 93%, skied 4 sets and it went to 78%. Suddenly it plummeted to 3%. I immediately checked the back tank under the step and the fuel is approximately 1-2” above the top of the fiberglass from the step. questions: 1) does anyone have a description of how much fuel is in the tank from visual inspection under the step? Is 1-2” the “bottom” of the tank? Im thinking of printing stickers or simply marking how much fuel is in the tank with a sharpie. 2) how could it go from 78% to 3% in a moment? Is this normal? 3)has anyone installed a manual fuel sender to an analog gauge to avoid all this silliness?
  8. I’ve had piriformis syndrome for decades. If I do frequent stretching and hip openings exercises then I’m ok. Skiing is bad because of the muscle imbalance and the stretching/exercising becomes less effective as the season progresses. the only thing that helps “reset” this cycle is an ART session. It’s a miracle. https://activerelease.com make sure you find a provider that specializes in sports injuries. Otherwise it’ll be just another version of a massage. Now many chiropractors also do ART and I’ve found that to be a good, but not necessary combination.
  9. I’d look for a 1999-2004 Malibu Wakesetter VLX. Some have the diamond hull that can ski almost as good as a DD from that era. I had a 2000 Sunsetter LXi. It is the best family DD ever if you ask me. if skiing is your primary focus, then look for a Sunsetter. If family is the first priority, then go with the Wakesetter VLX. I’m not sure if this has the diamond hull, but I’d look into it. Wakesetter VLX
  10. Yeah, all the winter snow stuff used to be fun, but so far this year we’ve had little snow and a bunch of 40deg and rain. It sucks
  11. I do most everything now. When I first bought my ‘00 sunsetter I would use the dealer just to establish a good relationship just in case I needed something that was beyond my abilities. Now Malibu has cancelled the Wi dealer and my I’m too far away from the Malibu dealer in Mi, so I do everything myself.
  12. 2022 stunk to high heavens!! New job and a move made my season awful. I found 4 courses near me with offers to ski every one, but was only able to ski 7 sets due to my crazy schedule. 2023 is going to be better.
  13. I have a waterskier in my card as well. It’s not me, and the body position is actually pretty lousy. I get the question “is that you?” all the time. It’s a great way to let people know that there are still skiers out there!!
  14. Couldn’t be more different. One is super cold, the other, usually warm. ? Both may involve beer when completed, though. ?
  15. @scuppers im not sure the relevance of my age and religious affiliation. Is that so you can dismiss my viewpoint not on its merits but rather based on some demographic stereotype?
  16. @scuppers you win the award for the least kind words I’ve ever read on a forum. Really? Using your logic, it leads to the conclusion that we don’t even need laws because good parenting and “growing a pair” is all we need? And the idea that the Catholic Church took care of the rest? Their practice was to send the predator to another parish so they could start all over again. I’m glad this worked out well for you. It just didn’t seem to work out well for millions of others.

    Old boat

+1 on Zbox. A lot cheaper and you can dial it in to be as good as ZO.
  18. @ForrestGump could be…I don’t have the data. @usawaterskiHQ do you know the specific age groups that are mostly dropping out? I was just pointing out that this pattern is predictable. Gen X didn’t really do anything so I picked the baby boomers to make my point.
  19. Hmmm..if you were going into the turn, there shouldn’t be any extraordinary pressure on the ski, so most likely it was crash that was the cause?
  20. Amazing…the world changes…the older generations don’t like it. Weird. Sounds like what’s been happening since the beginning of time. The only difference is that the complaints are more easily seen via social media. If you are a baby boomer ask yourself…do you think your grandparents were thrilled with the world you were creating? Ok…this may get me banned but oh well.
  21. Ok.,.what is the cause, and what is the effect. Are you saying that you crashed and that’s what broke the ski or that the ski broke and caused your crash? It’s a bad deal either way…
  22. I had a 2000 sunsetter LXi, which is arguably the best ever family oriented tournament quality ski boat. We loved it!! My kids loved it!! They grew up and I wanted a higher quality pull. I upgraded to a 2012 Response TXi and it isn’t even close to the creature comfort of the sunsetter. My wife and kids go out with me on cruises, but everyone comments that it isn’t a great boat for anything other than skiing. There aren’t even any cupholders for the spotter…something my wife still comments about after 3 seasons. Malibu tried to recreate a family oriented ski boat with the LXR a few years back and nobody bought it. It’s more than marketing. The product needs to fit the experience @ScarletArrow describes. Right now, the DD’s do not.
  23. @Kimbymon you are right, I am now on a lake with a channel to long lake. There is a course beside the island. Does anyone live on long lake who is looking for another in the rotation? I have a ‘12 response txi with ZO
