Nautique getting loud...

Friend had an older bubble butt with higher hours...was really loud in back of the boat whereas my boat...same hull/motor etc was not (lower hours, 3 yrs newer). Another friend has a mid 2000's SN 206. Says it's really loud in the back. Only 180 hrs on the boat.

 

Muffler? From shore still quiet...way quieter than a similar vintage "Bu" or the '07 or so MC that went virtually unmuffled.

 

Any thoughts appreciated from those far more mechanical than me? His wife is complaining and that's never good.

If there’s a hole in the muffler the boat will sink. How’s the impeller?

Check impeller and Trans cooler make sure water is flowing freely thru cooling system . Maybe be running almost dry.

Impeller or crack in the manifold is my guess, a guess because I do not have the boat in front of me.

Baffles will break out of mufflers over time. A fresh air exhust is a huge improvements on these boats

As others have mentioned, boat will be loud without enough water through the risers.

Impeller. Neighbours 196 got quite loud one summer and it was the impeller not flowing enough water. Changed it out and bingo back to normal.
