Baller PatM Posted August 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2018 So yesterday I think I dislocated my ring finger trying to pull up on a board that was not going to move. It felt like it moved out and back into the socket quickly. It's not swollen or bruised. Today it is soar to pull against. I tried to ski with it this morning and I quit after my third pass. Anyone have this issue before and what did you do to continue to ski? i.e. tape it up, KT tape, etc.. Thanks
Baller BraceMaker Posted August 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2018 For a season I was skiing in a figure 8 ring splint had to tape under it because it was tearing up my knuckle.
Baller FSSPCat Posted August 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2018 As dumb as it sounds for a finger, go to a physio, or buy one of those finger web things. I dislocated mine and sprained the living daylights out of others a while back. Fingers take forever to heal so whatever you can do to speed up the process, do it. Baller igkya Posted August 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2018 Dislocated mine several years ago. Needed to wear a splint when I skied. It was my middle finger so it looked like I was giving everyone "the finger' while I skied.
Baller lkb Posted August 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2018 @"Pat M" I injured my ring finger cranking a chain saw last fall. I thought it was minor but it just wouldn't quit hurting. Finally saw a dr 7-8 weeks later. Tried therapy with no luck. It turns out I had torn the ligament on the underside and it healed in a contracted position that wouldn't straighten. I had to have surgery to fix it. It's much better but not nearly as good as oem. I think if I'd just had an extension splint while it was first injured I could've avoided the surgery. Long story but I'd get a specialist to look at it instead of waiting.
Baller bigskieridaho Posted August 22, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 22, 2018 Get grip gloves or suck it up. Power through it and go skiing! Too harsh....oh sorry...just a die hard
Baller braindamage Posted August 26, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 26, 2018 I skied with a broken pinky a couple years back. I waited a couple weeks with a brace then just skied. It didn’t hurt much while skiing but hurt a lot a afterwards.

Baller rfa Posted August 27, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 27, 2018 My take on "skiing with a sprained finger", after seeing @PatM "provide a demonstration" this weekend, is that one can ski awesome with that condition...haha. Well done Pat!
Baller PatM Posted August 27, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted August 27, 2018 Yah but it is more swollen now. Worth it though.
Baller bigtex2011 Posted August 27, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 27, 2018 I tore a ligament in my finger/hand 2 years ago. I was able to ski a little with clinchers, but ultimately, i had to lay off till it healed
