Baller JC McCavit Posted September 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2018 Looking for the best premium spark plugs, brand and model number that do not require gap setting for my 97 GT-40?
Baller Killer Posted September 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2018 Autolite 764 is the plug you want. Can buy em for under $2 per plug from rockauto. No need to spend any more. They should be gapped and ready to go. I put a set in my GT40 in the spring ( about 40 hours ago), my Boat runs perfect. I never checked the gap... Baller S1Pitts Posted September 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2018 NGK Split Fire - 9 seasons and not a hick up. Pulled a few this yr to see what they look like and they are still looking good.
spicoli
Have you ever compared them I think it's Motorcraft and autolite not sure but there 3 or 4 threads deeper and I was always afraid the long 1 would hit piston so scared to try

Baller Steveo Posted September 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2018 Not sure if it’s still going on but picked up some autolite platinums at auto zone and received a $24 rebate.
Baller Killer Posted September 5, 2018 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2018 The platinum autolite plug is just a coating over copper i believe. You might get some extra longevity out of them but no performance. I think most of the mustang guys use the copper plug. The autolite 764 is a copper plug and replacement for OEM (same as pcm you buy from skidim). Not supposed to gap platinum or split plugs IIRC. The 764 is supposed to be gapped at .044 out of the box, within OEM tolerance.
