Sugar Lake - New Iberia, LA

Does anyone know if Sugar Lake in New Iberia, Louisiana is still an active ski lake?

I don't know, but I skied there several times many years ago. Barry Breaux was an owner then. He is still a member of AWSA but I don't think too active. He had (has) two sons who skied then. They are probably M1 or M2 now. They too are AWSA members I think. They all live in small towns in Louisiana, and I'll bet not far from Sugar Lake. You can get their towns by checking the AWSA rankings list. You might be able to find contact info starting there. Sugar Lake is nice. I think there are a few homes on its banks. It is appropriately named. There are sugar cane fields all around it, and the water skis sweet.

I think that is the lake that Kent White from the old Waterskiforum lives on. Kinda short but skis great.

No tournament type action there is some time. We went down and skied with Kent 6-7 years ago. I always found it short and not an easy place to ski. Have some good memories of sets down there when at USL.....

@MS You have a better memory than I do. It was Kent White with whom I skied at Sugar Lake at least once. I do now remember it being a little short. When you had to "feather up" Perfect Pass, it might have been challenging. With ZO and today's boats it cannot be problematic at all. I wonder if Kent is still there.
