Baller jhughes Posted August 20, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2019 If you do, terrific! Could you measure your length and DFT both with the jaws/slot and then with the tips/head and tell me what the conversion number is from Slot Caliper to normal caliper? I'm not cheap- I'll commit to buying the slot caliper when I can commit to this ski, I promise. I'm just flying blind right now. A conversion number for this exact ski would be really helpful. Baller skialex Posted August 20, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2019 I can measure my 66.75” XT with slot caliper and my 8” Mitutoyo, would that help you? I can do it now if you want, don’t think it would make a difference measuring a XT or a XTR, size maybe it could.
Baller jhughes Posted August 20, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted August 20, 2019 @skialex it's gotta be close I'd imagine.
Baller skialex Posted August 20, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2019 @jhughes just measured my XT with both calipers. These are the numbers: Slot caliper 6.816 2.486 0.700 Mitutoyo 8” 6.897 tips 2.487 0.702 (heads, holding the ski tip down)
Baller thager Posted August 20, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2019 Hate to throw a wrench in here but every caliper is slightly different from the next one. Even identical calipers! However one would think you could use @skialex number to set up a ratio for your own.
Baller skialex Posted August 20, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 20, 2019 @thager you’re probably right but then sharing numbers or putting suggested number has no meaning. As far as trying to set up a ratio, you can not really, it works only on identical skis (or very similar in this case). The surface of the ski around the fin will have an effect on numbers when measuring with jaws and slot especially on length and dft. So no not trying to setup a ratio just a hack to measure and setup a Goode ski without having to buy a slot caliper.
Baller thager Posted August 21, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2019 Pretty much found sharing numbers with anyone is a wag. Get it close then fine tune. Everyone skis different. Factory numbers on my KD weren't even close for me.
Martin
@jhughes I measure the GTR with the slot. The length always tips so I can't tell you. But we measured DFT a few times with slot and analog caliper and there is quite a bit of difference. Usually .775 measured with slot is close to about .755 with flat. I have tried a few different calipers at the lake and this different was pretty consistent.
