ski length question

Any general ski length recommendations for a 6'4", approx 195lbs male?

 

Looking at either HO syndicate omni or carbon omni. I'm trying to decide between 67 and 69.

 

I'm probably going to be skiing at 28-30mph and hope to speed up from there, after I hopefully make some improvements in form.

At that speed and your height I would go 69.

@Chef23 thanks! Based on weight I'm right on the boarder, I guess slower speeds does make some sense to go longer.

You never specifically see height called out for waterskis but I would agree. I'm 175 and use a 67 and it's ok from about 26.7 to 34. Maybe a bit large at 34.

weight wise, at least according to HO's website, I'm right in between 67 and 69. A friend of mine is encouraging me to get a 67 - says it will be easier to turn and control. Seems like at slower speeds 69 may make more sense but what do I know?

My opinion - buy what works best for you at the level you are at. When I was first into skiing I had been on a 68" O'Brien - thing was massive and I thought it was holding me back so I bought a Goode 65.5 9200 and that ski flat ripped - Night and day a better ski. But then I went to take a few lessons and they slow the boat down to 28 in the course and I couldn't even get through the wakes. Just not enough ski for my weight at that speed.

There's a cheap 69" Carbon Omni on eBay right now. Last I saw it was at about $118.50 with 22 hrs left. Snipe the bid in the last few seconds and maybe you get it real cheap.

HO has a demo program; try both lengths

At those speeds 69” for sure. If you are going to be at 32-34 a 67”. I am 6’3” 200lbs and ski a 67” at 34. I have ran 32 MPH on it tho.

Thanks for the advice and link to a maybe cheap ski! My plan/goal is to start slower 28-30 and then work to increase speeds but that may take a while. Demo seems like a good option, but having "extra" skis around for friends never hurts either!
