Baller wettek69 Posted February 1, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 1, 2020 Gidday guys. Please educate me. What is the general definition of a slalom "set"? I have seen some talk about it as 4 passes through the course, most seem to use 6 passes, some higher. Just a Sunday morning question while I try to work up the motivation to mow my lawn. Regards to all.
Baller_ MISkier Posted February 1, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted February 1, 2020 I’ve always thought of it as 6-8 passes. The Ross family might say it is 30+ passes. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller jjackkrash Posted February 1, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 1, 2020 6 passes or 3 splashes.
Baller RazorRoss3 Posted February 1, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 1, 2020 However many passes you take before someone tells you to get out of the water... minimum
Baller OldGuysRule Posted February 2, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 2, 2020 If it's warm enough to mow the lawn where ever you live, you should be skiing! 6-8 passes.
Administrators Horton Posted February 2, 2020 Administrators Share Posted February 2, 2020 The set is a ski ride. 4-6-8-10 passes. whatever Goode ★ HO Syndicate ★ KD Skis ★ MasterCraft ★ PerfSki Radar ★ Reflex ★ S Lines ★ Stokes ★ Baller Video Coaching System Drop a dime in the can
Baller dbutcher Posted February 2, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 2, 2020 If other skiers are waiting, a set is 6 or fewer passes. If no one is waiting and everyone has plenty of time, a set is however many passes your body can stand.
Baller 6balls Posted February 2, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 2, 2020 If you are @Razorskier1 no kidding might be 30 plus passes all 32 off or shorter (three times in a given morning)...or maybe 12 passes at 35 off just cuz you can after a quick warm up at 28 and 32. Most busy places I've seen limit to 6 or so per skier to keep the line moving. I get worse after 6-8 passes so doesn't make much sense to continue other than fun, opportunity, and using glass. I think most run 6-8. My bro Jim...he simply doesn't wear out. Gas bill...bad...hours on boat...high. I just tried to keep up.
Administrators Horton Posted February 2, 2020 Administrators Share Posted February 2, 2020 I took 2 sets today. 8 passes first set and 8 full passes + 4 more balls on the 9th pass for an even 100 balls total. Baller_ lpskier Posted February 2, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted February 2, 2020 @dbutcher Your body might be able to stand more passes than is productive. My rule of thumb is that your set should end (assuming it’s not busy) either when you are tired or when your skiing starts to degrade. There is no point practicing bad technique resulting from fatigue and there is no point getting hurt due to fatigue. Lpskier
Baller LOTW Posted February 2, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 2, 2020 I wish I could cut the grass today, instead I'll be shovelling snow and dreaming of endless sets! #sick of winter, #bring on summer

Baller wettek69 Posted February 3, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted February 3, 2020 Well, I did mow my lawn, then cooled off with a couple of beers. 34 centigrade and 78% humidity over here (Queensland, Australia). Would have preferred to be skiing, but the better half advised me that yard work was in my best interests. Was interested to know if there was any numbers behind a "set" as I watched the old (2013?) Electric Nautique video where they said the battery was good for 4 sets followed by a 4 1/2 hour charge. Anyway, time for another beer. Regards to all. Baller jgills88 Posted February 3, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 3, 2020 Like everyone else has said, it really depends on your preferences. For slalom, a lot of people say 6-8 passes. I've seen most trick sets as 4 passes about the lake (two up and backs), Jump sets are typically 5-6 jumps, or end after a bad crash
Baller_ mike_mapple Posted February 3, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted February 3, 2020 My definition of a set was 6 passes if just skiing. If coaching 8 passes. My dad used to say 4 passes, but that usually was just for him. Performance Ski and Surf Mike@perfski.com 👾

Baller A_B Posted February 3, 2020 Baller Share Posted February 3, 2020 The time between jumping in the water with ski on to getting back into the boat without ski any way possible. It use to be 10-12 passes and now seems to be in that 3-4 range... :(
