bdaring
Been skiing on a 23 year old 70 inch HO , I am 212 pounds and mostly free ski want a new ski and have been looking at a Radar Senate Alloy 69 inch with HO freemax binding. I ski pretty hard and want to be sure I am upgrading and not settling for a good priced ski. I can get a 2020 leftover for $550 with bindings . I tend to overthink purchases! Will the graphite be a way different ski? Haha HELP!
Baller Jetsetr Posted October 9, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2020 Can’t go wrong with the Senate Alloy for type of skiing you do...pull the trigger...
Baller robmollysilverlake Posted October 9, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2020 I'd say if you're free skiing the Alloy will be great! If you ski hard in the course and want to get more buoys then you'll want to get a Lithium or Pro Build version of the ski.
Baller Clydesdale Posted October 9, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2020 I’m 215-skied the senate alloy and then senate graphite. Last year switched to a 69 connelly carbon v and absolutely love it. Nothing wrong with radar, but for me the connelly definitely turns better. Baller Chef23 Posted October 9, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2020 That 69” ski will be plenty of support. I would definitely look at the graphite construction or higher. I am about 205 pounds and have skied the Radar Katana 67” extensively in the course over the past two summers at 30 and 32 mph at 22 and 28 off and it turns great. Martin1980
Would for sure look at the 69" HO Syndicate Omni with its clean edge technology. Super easy to get up on, very efficient/fast, and a capable course ski into 35' off.
Baller Edmund Posted October 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2020 I second the Syndicate Omni; love my 67".
Baller rbuss4 Posted October 14, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 14, 2020 I agree with the comment to look into and spend the extra $$ on a graphite version. I just sold my 69' graphite to upgrade to a pro-build. The graphite was AWESOME, but one pull on the Pro-Build and I knew I made a good choice on the upgrade
Baller_ lpskier Posted October 15, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted October 15, 2020 I’ll second the Senate Pro. I took two sets on one and thought it was a wonderful ski. In fact, at -28 and -32 I thought it was one of the best skis I’ve ridden. Then I tried a Vapor.... Lpskier
Baller Jetsetr Posted October 15, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 15, 2020 The Graphite/Lithium/Pro Build are different, costlier skis just short of what a SERIOUS deep course skier would use... Are you THAT person? If NOT then go with the Alloy for $550... IF you decide to pursue course skiing the Alloy will get you deep enough to know if you want/need a upgraded ski. Kinda like buying a F1 car to learn to drive in...
