Baller SkiGal Posted May 4, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 4, 2021 Okay, so FL is way over-priced! A kind water skier mentioned Katy, which is more in our price range, and now I'm interested to buy a home there. $500-$800K with a covered boathouse, 3,000 sq ft. I like to be near culture, so an hour's drive to Houston for ballet and theater suits me fine. And hubby needs to fly internationally for work every three months, so a big airport is a must. Our grown kids live in L.A., D.C. and Chicago, so we are open to anywhere. Please advise...
Baller ski6jones Posted May 4, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 4, 2021 Not sure there are any for sale right now. My buddy just sold his there first day on the market over asking.
Baller LoopSki Posted May 4, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 4, 2021 Texas is no longer a deal. Plus it sucks. I tried. I decided I am better off home in California.
Baller keithh2oskier Posted May 5, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 5, 2021 What sucks about Texas @LoopSki? We have some friends in CA that are planning 9n making the move in the future, from CA.
Baller ral Posted May 5, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 5, 2021 For some time I followed this one, went out for less than 600k. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/13-Lago-Cv_Santa-Fe_TX_77517_M84229-61898#photo4
Baller elr Posted May 5, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 5, 2021 Not Katy but - 45-60 mins to ballet/theater/airport (IAH) https://har.com/santafe/realestate/for_sale?streetaddress=330+Lago+Circle+Drive+N Recently well priced [for the current market] homes do not last until the weekend and sell at asking or above to people with no contingencies. In the last few months prices have gone up dramatically.

Baller lathompson Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/107-Island-Way_Princeton_TX_75407_M82101-97670 $156/sq.ft. Less than an hour to DFW airport. 45 min to downtown Dallas. 15 min to major shopping. Only home currently listed for sale at Princeton Lakes. Baller JayG80 Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 @lathompson Listing says 2nd chance b/c buyer could not close. Princeton Lakes is a great site, that house should not last long. I wonder if the price spike in ski lake homes (and others) is creating problems for loans and getting appraisals from comparable properties? Baller lathompson Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 @JayG80 Could be. The few recent homes for sale here in Princeton Lakes were under contract before they were even listed, and some sold for higher than asking price. Crazy market right now. Prices up ~20% from a year or so ago. Still, $156/sf is not bad.
Baller JayG80 Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 @lathompson With price of materials. you can't build that house for $156/sf right now. I saw a guy flaunting his wealth the other day, he had 4 sheets of 3/4" plywood in the back of his truck.
Baller UWSkier Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 No dock on that house on Princeton?
Baller unksskis Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 @UWSkier No that does not currently have a dock, but one could be built.
Baller JayG80 Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 A year ago my neighbor priced out a nice covered dock with shed for $40,000. Hard to imagine what that price is today.
Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted May 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 10, 2021 @JayG80 in my area with the cost of materials and the shortage of materials plus labor being stretched, the cost for a boathouse is now upwards of double that figure. Baller HMan66 Posted May 14, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 14, 2021 @ski6jones was that on Boaters Crossing? If so, some friends of mine are the new owners.
Baller ski6jones Posted May 14, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 14, 2021 @HMan66 yes. There were two sold within about 2 weeks like that. Houses are next door to one another. You need to get your friends skiing. I don't think either buyer were skiers.
Baller HMan66 Posted May 14, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 14, 2021 @ski6jones he’s more of a wakeboarder/surfer but he does ski and wants to learn course skiing. I got him on a new Senate last year. He has a Nautique G21 at his house in AZ. If he buys a boat for skiing (which I’m trying to talk him into) it’ll be a Nautique.
