Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted August 29, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted August 29, 2021 Please keep our ski community friends in south Louisiana in your thoughts. Some decided to stay and ride it out others took refuge elsewhere out side the affected area. Looks like it is coming onshore as a cat4 storm. Baller Broussard Posted August 29, 2021 Baller Share Posted August 29, 2021 Looks like the eye is going to pass just east of my hometown - Thibodaux, LA (about 70 miles SE of Baton Rouge). Jay and Anne decided to ride it out at Tri-Lakes. Hoping everyone stays safe and damage is minimal. The SE coast of Louisiana is getting throttled right now. . Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted August 30, 2021 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2021 Thoughts and prayers for Louisiana indeed. I hope this storm is not nearly as bad as Katrina was. @Broussard thx for the update. I hope your hometown and Tri-Lakes make it through with minimal damage. Baller Broussard Posted August 30, 2021 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2021 @Cooper_Trelawney This hurricane was way worse than Katrina as far as strength and winds. The copious amount of destruction that Katrina caused in New Orleans was a result of flooding from the levees failing. My dad said it was by far the worst hurricane he has ever been through. Lots of damage to my hometown and even worse damage as you move further south. For some reason Ida retained its strength after making landfall and was essentially feeding itself. My family is okay and our house had no damage but many neighbors weren't so lucky. When I spoke to Jay late last night they didn't have any major damage - just lost power. It looked like the storm was going to stay east of them and Baton Rouge / Zachary would be on the outskirts of the storm. .
