Baller PatM Posted October 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2021 Done this so infrequent I need a little refresher. Is it as simple as extracting through the dipstick and refill with the same amount that came out?
Baller dave2ball Posted October 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2021 @PatM yes. Make sure you get the hose down as far a possible.
Baller dbutcher Posted October 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2021 I use a metal line such as a brake line (as opposed to a flexible rubber line) on my electric drill pump. That way I am certain I get to the bottom of the transmission case and get as much of the old transmission fluid as possible out. A slight angle at the end of that line allows the line to touch the casing without getting suction locked on the bottom of the case.
Baller BlueSki Posted October 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 9, 2021 Should be 2 quarts
Baller dbutcher Posted October 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 10, 2021 2 quarts is right on a 200 if you get all the old out. Pump it out when the oil is warm. When you refill, do not overfill. I change my transmission fluid every 50 hours. If one does not use a boat 50 hours a year, the fluid should be changed once a year anyway.
Baller 503Kento Posted October 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 10, 2021 If it has been a while since you’ve changed, you can do it two or three times back to back to get all the old fluid flushed out. Change it, run it, change it, run it. Get high, Get fast, and do some good work.
Zman219
Any specific brand that you guys stick with? I know it's Dex/Merc but is there any brand that out performs another?
Baller Kelvin Posted October 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 10, 2021 @Zman219 anything but synthetic.
Baller BraceMaker Posted October 10, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 10, 2021 @dbutcher I do the same my tube is an old aluminum arrow. But for the love of all that is good and holy make sure its longer than your transmission is deep.
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted October 10, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted October 10, 2021 Series 40 can be tricky to get a suck out tube to the bottom of the sump... it takes 2 Quarts ""and a few ounces" For lines and cooler.. Series 80 more akin to the Borg Warner again 2 quarts and some change..
Baller PatM Posted October 10, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted October 10, 2021 It’s a 2018 200 so I am almost positive it is a series 80. I’ll double check when home
Baller PatM Posted October 11, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted October 11, 2021 @Jody_Seal so I checked and it is a series 80 and I noticed that they tell you to check the fluid when it is cold. Does this mean to change it when cold also so you are not over filling?
Baller 2Valve Posted October 11, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2021 I have a Wally Sinker compressor we use for our slalom course. I take the suction line and hook it up to a glass jar with two fittings on the lid. The other line goes into the trans fill hole. Turn on the compressor and the suction pulls the fluid into the jar. Zero mess whatsoever, just replace what you pulled out.
