iPads for trick video and judging

I see a few sites using iPads for trick video recording and submission for judging. Are the videos air-dropped to a local Mac for scoring, or are folks using a mesh network to send the video via wi-fi? Just curious how to implement. Running SD cards is painful.

Most tournaments I've been at use outdated and user unfriendly cameras that are a PIA. We use plain old Iphones and either download to a computer or play directly. Every kid knows how to record and use and the video quality is excellent. Ipad is good as well, just a little bulky in the boat.

We are running IPad's then downloading them to a computer and then using Video Stopwatch to play for judges and time if a L/R tournament. Otherwise we have also just played off the IPad to a TV (Use lighting to HDMI) for judging a C tournament. Very easy since everyone knows how to use one.
