2003 Malibu Sunsetter 330 hp Monsoon Vortec running rich

My Sunsetter has been smelling gas out the exhaust. Wondering if it is the thermostat being stuck open? Or are there other things that can cause the engine to run rich?

check the plugs to see if it's one bank / injector / plug thats rich or if it's generally running rich. Could be the coolant temp sensor too.

fuel pressure regulator.

Fuel pressure reg is pretty common, add an injector check if regulator comes up good. Injectors may need a cleaning. Is your oil level rising, if yes that is most likely fuel dilution.
