Baller whitem71 Posted September 23, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 23, 2023 Anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding lakes where Wakesurf boats operate directly before or after slalom sets and the resulting backwash or rollers. I’m aware of the small amount of research that’s been done regarding bank erosion, e.g: https://cdalakepoa.com/uploads/3/6/4/3/36431208/technical_summary_finalpdf.pdf However, our smallish lake (private members club) operates a G21 surf and Nautique 200 ski boat, with a 6 ball slalom course along one side. My perception is that the wash or rollers can last for some time and pose a potential safety issue, as well as messing up the slalom set. Thoughts? Baller Drago Posted September 23, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 23, 2023 We alternate between surfing and slalom all the time at kodiakskilake, a classic SL lake with islands, no issues. The buoy bungees do get worked after a while, we need to keep our eye on heights
Baller whitem71 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Baller Share Posted September 23, 2023 @Drago thanks for that, interesting. I didn’t realise many other sites mixed surf and slalom at the same time. Do you find the surf rollers settle pretty quickly?
Baller Drago Posted September 24, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 24, 2023 Yes, our shoreline is 5:1 (?) The rollers settle in the time it takes to change over (a couple minutes)
Baller whitem71 Posted September 24, 2023 Author Baller Share Posted September 24, 2023 @Drago yes I guess man made lakes provide that ability to dissipate wash easier. Ours isn’t so does see plenty of bounce back 🫤
