Baller bbruzzese Posted October 5, 2023 Baller Share Posted October 5, 2023 The season is sadly coming to an end here in VT.. Winterizing my 18 TXi and always like to check and grease my rudder box and steering cable. Has any one figured out a way to access the rudder with out having to fully remove the engine cover in order to remove the center floor section? Unfortunately, having to remove the engine cover kinda turns a simple job into a 2-person job. seriously considering cutting that section of floor in half...just bolted down anyway... if anyone has found a better solution I'd love to hear it.. Thanks!
Baller Mastercrafter Posted October 5, 2023 Baller Share Posted October 5, 2023 Not exactly sure with Malibu, but with a Prostar , you can unscrew the rear floor section and pivot it up, while leaving the motor box basically in place. …or make your ski partners come help. Baller ResponseSkier Posted October 6, 2023 Baller Share Posted October 6, 2023 I have the same boat. Take out the 4 screws holding the rear section in place. Take out the pins on the motorbox/floor hinge point. Pivot floor up. Should work, otherwise prop the back of the motorbox up a bit, then it should definitely come out. Getting back to the rudder isn't easy even with the floorboard out.
