  1. I’ll be there but would still pay for a webcast!!!
  2. I would attend any of the locations. BTW, Cory (Pickos Ski Site) indicated his interest in a prelims and finals Nationals.
  3. My starting speed is 28mph (15 off) and top speed is 30mph. I mainly slalom behind the SN 200. I find that the wake behind the 200 feels softer than the MasterCraft. Regardless, both are great. I much prefer the SN 200 and/or the Ski Nautique for trick skiing.
  4. Thanks for recommendations. Ordered 65 inch today.
  5. I ski on Goode XTR but would like to try Senate Pro. My best tournament score this year is one-half at 28 off. My top speed is 30mph. I weigh 145. Need to ski 22 off consistently. Would prefer 66 inch but 65 or 67 inch is only choice. I would appreciate suggestions on which length would be best for me. Thanks.
  6. I’ve attended the Masters the last three years and love watching all the junior and elite skiers. I especially enjoyed the addition of adaptive skiing this year. The blind guy was awesome—Slalom, trick, and jump. Great form and skill set.
  7. I arrived at the World's Tuesday afternoon. From watching and talking to skiers it appeared conditions generally sucked. Our skiers can handle wind, rain, and cold but backwash from the concrete side made things super tough. Conditions appeared to vary greatly from skier to skier from bad to worse. The site was not spectator friendly. I learned quickly to bring my own toilet paper. There was one concession stand which was great if u liked your burger rare. The line for food on the weekend was long long. The rain and wind made watching miserable. I can only imagine what it felt like on the starting dock. Miserable I'm sure but again i suspect skiers can adjust to these conditions more so than the backwash. I watched skier after skier miss the 11.25 line. I have to say it was not boring but I feel so sad for skiers who prepared so hard and so long who went down early. Until the weekend we had minimal spectators. During the week children from local schools were in attendance. I had a fairly long hike to get to the ski area but that was OK. It would have been nice if the site had a tent for the spectators when it rained. Getting soaked was not fun. Regardless I am so happy to have been there and huge congrats to all of the skiers who placed.
  8. oops @Ralph Lee was cleaning off my monitor screen--did not mean to hit "off topic"
  9. In addition to access to sanctioned tournaments, one of the secondary benefits (or hooks) of membership are travel discounts--especially discounts for hotels. I've gotten really good prices for Hilton hotels (e.g., Hampton, Double Tree) which alone has made up for the cost of the annual membership. Unfortunately, I just looked at the USA waterski website and noticed that although discounts are available for the Choice Hotels chains, the Hilton Hotels are no longer listed. Sad. @Jeffsurdej bring in back!!!
  10. @mmski I'm an older woman who starts at 28 mph and skis in tournaments where 28 off is a more common starting speed. Although we talk about negative aspects of tournaments these days, e.g., skiing for rankings in local tournaments rather than tournaments where you are actually competing against others like at regionals or nationals, these ranking-type tournaments are much less stressful for me. I'm skiing against myself trying to improve my score and rooting for others doing the same--regardless of speed or line length. I'm also scared that I'll miss my first pass--but guess what, even the best can. I encourage you to go ahead and ski in tournaments. I think that you'll find that your skiing will improve and regardless that most other competitors will cheer you on. I probably get more cheers when I run 30 15 off than others who run 35 or 38 off. I think we worry too much that better skiers will look "down their noses" at us. Honestly, I hate that there are not more of us who who have that competitive spirit willing to get up at 4:30 to get that course in or to jump in the water when it's cold and windy. If you get a chance go to one of Coble's women's weeks. I've been to two and always leave feeling more confident and that the sky is the limit. Register for that next tournament---you got this!!!!!! See you at the starting dock.
  11. I stayed in the "igloos" in March. They are very comfortable and the separate kitchen for each igloo was great to have. The only downside are the thin walls--so don't expect that phone conversations in your room will be private. Overall a great bargain and so convenient!!
  12. I ski old woman's division--start @28 mph 15 off; top speed 30 mph. Cannot beat Nautique 200 open bow. Trick wakes are not bad either.
  13. @mbabiash I messaged you about my XTM.
  14. For me, skiing Nationals is a validation of the long hours I've put in--skiing when body parts hurt, time when I'm shivering on the dock waiting for my turn. In my older age group, we have a small group of competitors, and I look forward to renewing friendships (and beating as many as I can--which is not that many). The "1 ski ride" is not a problem for me given I ski all three events. I love to ski Nationals but I also love to watch other competitors and would go even if I couldn't ski.
