  1. 1. How often do you get to ski? Every day the weather allows. Usually 5 to 6 days a week in the evenings. 2. Do you live on a lake? Yes 3. Do you have a boat and driver at your dock at your convenience? There are three of us on the lake that ski together, so usually someone is always available. 4. Are you part of a club? Yes, Watchic Lake Ski Club. However, we just started it and have no idea what it will evolve into. 5. How close is the nearest skiing and what's your availability? We have two courses on a 400 acre pond so depending on wind direction, one is usually skiable. The pond is public, but there is no public access, so boat traffic is not too bad in the mornings and evenings. 6. Any suggestions to help out my current situation? About a year ago I was in the same situation. I had a boat and no one to ski with/ drive. I just started getting out there and asking everyone I know, when I stumbled along a couple guys that were as dumb as me and wanted to chase buoys any chance possible. Don’t give up, be helpful, and always bring 5 gallons with you even if they say don’t worry about it.
  2. Hey Everyone, I know that this is not very close for many of you, but we wanted to get the word out there to everyone. Watchic Lake Ski Club is hosting its very first Grassroots Tournament on Aug. 23. The site is a public/private large pond located in Standish ME (public water but only private access, so we can control the boat traffic during the event) We will be holding a Slalom event, followed by a fun ski day for the kids. May of the slalom participants have agreed to stay for the afternoon and work with the kids to get them on the water and have a good time. If anyone is close, or planning on being in the area we would love to have you attend. For more information email watchiclakeskiclub@gmail.com or check us out on facebook!
  3. That's great. It's nice to see kids out on the water instead of inside on a computer or the television!
  4. That's fantastic! We have been milling around a similar idea for here in Maine since there are no longer any events and NH is not doing one this year. Any chance you can share the entry fees you charged and how you handled food for non-skiers? The last piece that we are working on would be insurance and waivers in an attempt to keep any potential legal issues at bay. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Just another example. I'm 5'9 and 195 to 205 depending on the most recent Twinkie intake and I ski a 67 with no issue. I tried a 69 or 70 one time and thought I was standing in a canoe!!
  6. Anyone interested. I live southern Maine and wondering if anyone is in the area looking to ski on a regular basis while the summer lasts. Have a boat will travel! Thanks
