  1. I kinda like the cross over boats - my wife would appreciate a little softer ride and the extra room in the open bow, etc. We usually have us and our 3 boys on the boat - me and the boys ski but my wife is not a skier.
  2. I currently have a Bayliner with outboard - I free ski at 30 mph. The wake is not hard but it's medium high and wide. Would this Nautique Sport boat be a big improvement ? I realize it's not going to be like a newer boat but the price is nice and looks to be in good condition. Friends boats I've skied behind so far in the last few years... 1994 Prostar 205 1999 Nautique Air 2004 Prostar 197 2011 Nautique 200
  3. i guess my issue is I can't get the butt of my hand into the glove. How do you guys get past that ?
  4. I wear a size Large radar gloves. I have tried 2 times to put on Large Radar Vice gloves and there is no chance. L was the biggest size Vice that both shops I visited had in stock. Do you think XL or XXL for Vice ? i also see the Masterline Pro Locks- any size recommendation ? thanks and have a great weekend!
  5. I got the explorer package. 2 sets a day M-F. I think I get whoever they have available.
  6. I need to work on form. I'm not looking for a new ski for a while - I feel i need to get good enough form to actually take advantage of the one i have
  7. i apologize for the long delay. I booked my trip to Traver's for February. Excited!! My current ski is a Radar P6. They have HO Skis to use. Do you think I will be OK using something like an HO TX or should I really consider getting my ski down there ?
  8. Nice! doing what you love for a living is a beautiful thing !
  9. i had a 68" World Team at 225 lbs and it was way to small for me at freeskiing speeds. Dude you really need to slow down and get an larger ski. I have a 69" and 71" radar P6 and they ski much better than the Obrien. The 69" i have likes 30-32 mph and the 71 is fine around 28. I have a few friends around my weight - one skies a 67" Outlaw at 30-32 MPH. (these are really wide) The other skis a 69" Senate around 32-34 mph.
  10. it's weird my folks are LFF and I'm LFF but never tried the reverse. All my ski buddies are RFF. I might be tempted next year to try RFF. My oldest boys are LFF as well but probably b/c I said use that foot.
  11. i have the Ergo-A and don't have any issues with them - my first pair of gloves were not curved and I felt like I couldn't grip as well.
  12. we had a really nice ski day this week in Ohio. Air 75, water 54. Got some funny looks from the fishermen - ha ha. Well i put the boat in storage yesterday - always a little misty when that happens. had a great ski year overall thanks to my wife and some new found ski buddies !
  13. I'm still newish to slalom skiing too. i picked up a 69" P6 this past winter. At almost 230 it felt a tad small for me at slow speeds I'm learning at. So picked up a 71" p6 a few months later and it's been helping me with my technique. Hope to be down to 200 by spring and go back to the 69" P6. I think at your weight the 69" would be better. another ski i want to try is the 69" Connelly Aspect - seems like a great ski.
  14. kinda in the same place as you - just got my deep water start worked out at the end of this season (without trainer handle) and I've been slaloming longer - so way to go! I'm LFF too and still feel awkward turning right. I can vouch that the Radar P6 is an easy ski to get up on but can still turn. Got mine at perfski.com and I think they still have some of those. Also the vector binding is nice - i fell once this year and came right out.
  15. I feel ya brother - last family ski day for me is tomorrow in Ohio. Might catch 1 or 2 more Saturday mornings if some friends go out.
  16. i hear ya guys. We drop the hammer on my outboard boat - but it is only 125 hp and I have a 4 second pull to get up - which i think is pretty good for the 'ol girl. On my friends inboard boats i ask for a gentle pull and I'm up in 2 seconds.
  17. I'm looking at these handles - https://connellyskis.com/category/connelly_pro_tour_handles The thing that caught my eye is that they float. Our lake is 15-20 feet in most spots and my kids ski too. Just free skiing at 15 off do you think there is an advantage to the Elliptical diameter bar (.96x1.15) (helps you hold on better ?)
  18. Hi Guys, just an update - I got up twice Saturday without my cheater rope. They guy on the Prostar 197 said I "needed" to use his rope - ha ha. Anyhow i had tried a 4-5 times this summer with no luck - i tried the 10 or 11 o'clock thing and kept falling to the side. This week I put the ski strait and put both hands palm down. I think the hand position was throwing me as I was coming up baseball grip. I dunno. Small victory for some, but I'll take it ! Now I gotta get a real handle. the handle i used was a 13" with an Arc in it.
  19. That's a sharp boat ! I should be getting a DD boat next year so this is an interesting post. Don't have to winterize my outboard and thought of an inboard makes me nervous. Had a friend loose an engine 2 years ago bc it was done wrong. I imagine once I do it it will make sense.
  20. we have a pair of 63" HO Excel - if you can find a pair of these New Old Stock that would work well. My kids use them. I've even tried them at over 200lbs - i really like the rubber binding compared to some. here is a pair: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Excel-Combo-Ski-63-Waterski-Skis-/112090868314?hash=item1a1922ea5a:g:sLYAAOSw6n5Xrgxe
  21. both are considerably skinnier - especially the TX. I'm guessing the p6 has a lot more to progress into for ya. I have 2 P6's and really starting to dig this ski. But if you change and want to keep your radar bindings they will fit on the Katana - i don't think will fit the HO ski.
