  1. I was in the same spot as you 1 year ago. Now I run all 28's and 50% of my 32's. Getting stacked is the key. For me "squeeze your butt cheeks" was the phrase that got me stacked.
  2. @DefectiveDave‌ - 2 observations: you are pulling out and slowing down too much, which is causing you to get sucked in. I would recommend pulling out later and getting higher on the boat. That should enable you turn in with more speed and stop you from sinking and getting sucked back in. The other observation is the need to get stacked. For me, thinking about squeezing my butt cheeks was the key to teaching me the stacked position.

    PP upgrade?

The Zbox upgrade solved all of the surging problems for me. I would definitely recommend it. I have it in my 2000 SN 196.
  4. @MattP‌ Rini's settings put slightly more ski tip in the water, so the ski finishes with more angle. Also I feel like the edge change is earlier/quicker/easier due to more fin tip but less fin depth. Rini's settings freed up the ski compared to Rossi's, but as a result Rini's settings give up some stability compared to Rossi's numbers. At the end of the day, it wasn't a huge difference. I would definitely ski both settings to see what you like best.
  5. I'm 175 riding a 66 using Rini's numbers.
  6. The new liners are thicker. I had to move from size 9 stradas (2011) to size 10 vapors because of the difference in liner thickness.
  7. @jhughes Great Picture! Not only are your hips up, which is awesome, but your upper body looks great too: handle is in tight and your right shoulder is still back, meaning you're not getting pulled narrow by the boat. The biggest difference in my skiing this year has been the result of consistently getting stacked and keeping my shoulders back off the second wake.
  8. Performance has them. They sponsor this site and will ship.
  9. @BlueSki You can justify or not justify purchases many ways, we do it almost daily. I justified the 6L by buying a Promo, it was roughly the same cost as a new 5.7L and virtually all of the promos in Florida are 6L. Now I just need to sell my 196. I'll make somebody a great deal! http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=28564
  10. @kstateskier‌ I don't think anyone is suggesting they aren't good boats. My question was one of preference. I've skied both and like both. At the end of the day I decided on the 6L, but that in no way means the 5.7 is a bad boat or skis poorly.
  11. Baller Discount - Make me an offer!
  12. Thanks for the comments. I decided to go with the 6L.
  13. It's probably the sending unit. I replaced mine, it was behind the back seat of my 2000 196.
  14. If interested you can PM me or call my cell 407-274-3277.
  15. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=28564 I'm selling my 196. It's an awesome slalom boat. PP Stargazer with Z-Box.
  16. I'm trying to decide between a 5.7L or a 6L Nautique 200. The boat will be used at sea level for slalom at 34mph, no jumping. I plan to have the boat for a long time. Will I regret not getting the 6L?

    Vapor

@SMITTY‌ I was able to improve my onside without hurting my offside by moving my rear boot back. I'm on a 66 vapor using Rini's latest settings.

    Vapor

    @londonskier‌ I'm 5'9" 175lb 34mph skier getting into 35off. I use a 66 vapor. I was on a 67 Strada. I prefer the 66.
  19. The permits we have on the courses I referenced above are both over 10 years old. I wasn't involved in the process, so I'm not sure who you would contact.
  20. I ski on 2 courses in Orange County. One on lake Sybelia, semi-private like you mentioned above and one on lake minnehaha, fully public. Both are permanent and both have permits. Rollins college is in Orange County and on a public lake, they often have 2 portable courses out for their ski team, but I have no idea on their permit situation.
  21. @us_tdl I would go with the 10. The new intuition liners are thicker than the older liners. I had 2010 Strada boots, size 9, with the gray liners (very thin) and they fit great. The liner wore out, so I got the new black liner in the same size, but my front toes were scrunched. The boot finally wore out so I got a new vapor boot. I tried on both the 9 and 10. The 10 felt better. I also wear a 9.5 running shoe. The 10 will also allow you to utilize the insert.
  22. You can put the liner in the oven at the lowest setting (175 degrees) for 10-15 minutes. Take the liner out, place it in the boot, put your foot in, tighten the boot and wait 10 minutes.
  23. 10mph is the limit at my site. Above that and we're approaching white-caps.
  24. Performance Ski and Surf has the latest fin settings on their website. They have been updated as of March. Here is the link http://www.perfski.com/Waterskis/Slalom-Skis/2014-Radar-Lithium-Vapor-Slalom-Ski.html
  25. I asked Chris Sullivan the same question at Nationals last year. He said to use the sequence plate, that is what the ski is designed for.
