@mike_mapple That is/was the plan with my current Camaro Blacktec Zero but I'm getting cold feet worried that if I cut it just below the knee it will make the seams weak and they will start to split. From the factory Camaro uses a little patch of material at the bottom of the seam that is glued on the inside to strengthen the seam and prevent it from splitting.
anything you cut will fray some, I used to have a black tech full that I cut the arms off to make it a short sleeve, just wish I could still fit into it! lol

Ill be in the Yellow and Black tent that says Performance, and has the Radar Flags as well. for anyone who wants to stop by! Should be right in jump landing area like the past year.

I had high hopes for the 1.5mm HO Syndicate Dry-Flex suits when they first came out, one more smooth skin suit to compete with Camaro and Stokes. What I have found from owning a HO Syndicate Dry-Flex is it lets more water through the zipper than Camaro and uses just a little stiffer 1.5mm material that does not flex as much as Camaro. All three of these brands (Camaro, Stokes, HO) that offer smooth skin are the best option for us water skiers since they eliminate evaporate cooling which is why they are so warm while being so thin/lightweight and flexible. I personally would love to see Stokes and HO offer a dry zipper which makes a huge difference by turning these wet suits into almost dry suits since the zipper is the main way water gets in. The other option I would love Camaro and HO to offer is the 3/4 length leg that goes just below the knee which is what Stokes has going for it.
Buy a full suit and cut it. Ive got a few guys that buy them from me and do that.

@Wish is it just the top layer, or down to the metal? if its the first some gorilla super glue works well for a while to pro long life.

Tennis is the only one you could use as a similar sport, the others are team sports, which skiing is not.

@LOTW it is a very special product only offered at Perf S&S. The strawberry is the best. Ask for bill or mike. Tell them i sent you. It’s a secret stash.
When I first started working for bill, a customer got me on the phone running around everywhere looking for this, now if you get me on the phone and ask for this, just know you will be buying my lunch with your CC that day, and steak isnt cheap right now! but if you get one of the newer guys, anyone beside me Danielle or bill, we will have a very good laugh!

Called on Friday about a slight tear in the upper cuff on my Radar Vapor Boots, which were just out of warranty. After speaking w Greyson initially by telephone, Mike Mapple was able to reach out to Radar on my behalf and get me set up w a new upper cuff getting shipped out ASAP free of charge.
Thanks for keeping me on the water, guys. Customer 4 life!
Also, thank you to Radar for standing behind their products! Love love love the new Vapor boot.
No worries! Sorry i was out friday but glad they got it turned around super fast!

@vtjc I just replied to your email as well.
some of the jumpers do use a skydive helmet, but they also will fly off in a bad crash. Mostly for if you take an out the front into the ramp.

at 6'4 and 230 skiing under 34mph you are going to want that 71 to keep you on top of the water, going with the senate will be the best bet as when you do jump to faster speeds you will still be able to really stay aggressive on it.

i hate paywalls....lol, ill check out the first one driving to nats tomorrow though

You can't wimp out now.
I was going to have another 4-pack of tallboy IPA's for only me to drink while we pontificate about life, waterskiing and solving the worlds problems while sitting in the bleachers watching Mens 3 and Mens 4. Don't forget to bring your quarters to gamble or wager on skiers passes, high scores, failures, buoy's they will fall at and win-place-show. It's an annual tradition. You won't be too sick to go to Hawaii the following week will you??I wish it was like Worlds were I could see the skiing from the booth...I would bring plenty of quarters then lol

OK @mike_mapple what defines "Bag". Not "ski bag" but other stuff you carry to the lake?
Like a fin set kit.

Im sure many of you who go to ski with my dad know what this bag is..I finally decided it was time to use it again, as I have not touched it since he passed. I will be doing a video about it (the bag) and whats in it, and why he used certain things, and a sneak peak into one of his many notebooks.
but before I did that I would be interested to see what other people have in there bag.

What do you think is most important when setting up a slalom ski?
in Technique & Theory
Posted · Edited by mike_mapple
Most important part.
Edit: to add to this, I can not tell you how many people I watched tell my dad they needed the fin adjusted and he just turned around and did nothing but told them he did something and they went and skiied better. Dont get me wrong fin settings do make a change, but 80% of people are just telling them selves it will be better / worse. And iim sure most of you will say "oh I can tell" But I also know people who skied with him here that I know 100% he didnt touch a fin and then after the pass they said it felt much better. I think Mentally being open to a new ski/setting, what ever it might be is the most important part.
